I thought Schnieder was a true 2nd pair guy. I guess I don’t watch the Rags enough to judge….
My only favs on you team are Shesty and Trocheck, though I certainly don’t see them being traded.Ditto the sentiment on beating the Laffs! A good season cannot be w/o taking the series with the Laffs!!!
Seen an article saying DeBrusk will be a healthy scratch and the article already postulated that he be traded! DeBrusk could be a good Wing pickup, if that happens. A reasonable cap hit at $5.5M, but for 5 more seasons………till he is 34.Kasper is waiver exempt.

Wings beat the Stars in OT and appear to have the resilient nature to compete for more prominence in the league! I hope they find the consistency to keep up this effort!!!!

SCOTT MAXWELL: Since none of us seems to be going with the obvious answer of New Jersey, I’ll say the Detroit Red Wings. While their defense corps has been much improved this season, they still do need help on the blueline, and Quinn Hughes is the perfect player to infuse into the lineup and open their contention window. Detroit has the cap space to add him without even needing to move money, and they’ll definitely have enough space for a new contract based on how their current cap picture is laid out. They’re also one of the few teams with a prospect pool deep enough to give the Canucks a strong offer. Oh, and Hughes spent two years at the University of Michigan, so he’s familiar with the area. The Red Wings are finally showing signs that the Yzerplan is coming to fruition, and Hughes may be the kind of long-term lineup influx they need to put them over the top.Funny that the biggest problem the Wings have had the past 4 years is still the biggest problem they still have not addressed. Not having a decent top 4 has cost them dearly, and looking forward to next year does not seem to offer a in-house solution either. It will cost them dearly to acquire the help that they need, and Y does not apparently think that it would be worth the great cost now. The rising cap has made all valuable players even more valuable and the expense is only justified if that player could make a team compete for a cup, not just compete for a wild card spot.
So it seems that Wings fans will have to just wait till “maybe next year”. 😣Yeah, a poorly called game that almost robbed Detroit of a victory! The buzzer was still sounding when Apple released the puck to the net. Close……..but I understand the ire. Good to see Detroit kept fighting for the win.
Kane is out for a while. Berggren is a poor replacement, but he will have to do. Wings need another top 6 winger, like Alex Tuch or Anders Lee, they are on their last year of their contracts. Time for Y to get active and snag a vet to mix in with the yutes! 😁
I still see the defense as lacking. ASP making the team is great, but he should be protected on the 3rd pairing for a few months. He still is learning the defensive game. It would be wonderful to be proven wrong!
Finnie and Branny will have to weather the rigors of a very long season. Hopefully they do. I would love to see them up for the full season! My hope is that Y bolsters this team with other additions throughout the season and takes advantage of the teams that will bail early for a chance at McKenna.
