ParticipantMan what a great game by the Bears tonight. That 4th down play was unbelievable to Rome.
Amazing! Bring on whoever!

ParticipantGreat point Steve. I’m sure this will be the trade that comes back to haunt the Hawks this year and for many years to come. I know you’re playing the long game on the Jones for Knight trade unlike most of us who have declared it an emphatic win…but is there a trade you approve of from KFC or any other Hawk GM?

ParticipantComparing to last season sounds like when my wife tells me that she saved money by buying something for 40% off.
Who you crapping Steve, if they had a worse record this season compared to last it would be your main argument.
I now understand when someone applies logic, deflect, deflect, deflect
Why meet logic with logic when you can dodge, duck, dip, dive…dodge. Still pretty sure Steve’s a Blue’s fan troll.

That’s insane Steve and yes you weren’t getting that back. It’s why I call it an act because your expectations aren’t based in any sort of reality.
Here…let me help you out a little and explain how this works. First round picks are valuable when a) They haven’t been yet made or b) when said first rounder lives up to their draft status. Also combining two former first round draft picks who don’t appear to be more than fringe NHL’ers doesn’t necessarily get you what you’re looking for and it certainly wasn’t getting you a somewhat useful player and a 2nd and 3rd rounder. You’re higher than the ISS if you think that’s a realistic return for Reichel and Allan based solely on the fact they were former first rounders. Just ludicrous.
I’m not declaring KFC anything but that was one of those trades that’s a win/win. Knight is still playing great hockey. One bad game represents his coming back to earth numbers but I know that doesn’t fit your narrative.
Also, I’m not that guy, so as usual you’re wrong. I was never the guy crying about trades Stanbo made or the guy that thought that those Cup teams were ALL the handiwork of Dale Tallon.
To my original point, in the world of spilled milk, this trade wouldn’t fill a thimble…and yet here we are.
Chinakov has 79 points in 208 games. Reichel has 59 points in 188 games. You think it is insane and ludicrous to get Chinakov’s return for Reichel and Allan?
A thousand times yes! It’s unrealistic and it’s apples and oranges. You’re looking at stats and not what was happening on the ice. Look at what Reichel is doing in VAN and the Hawks may have been lucky to get a 4th.
Did Chinakov look as lost to you as Reichel has over the past few seasons. He looked salvageable. Reichel not so much.
Take Reichel’s first season out of the equation where he looked like he could be something and then look at the next three where the guy couldn’t carve out ice time for himself on a team crying for any sort of talent and skill. You think you’re getting back a useful player and 2nd and 3rd round picks for that and a depth dman who had fallen further down the prospect charts?
If so…I gotta bridge to sell ya.

ParticipantIt’s not an act. I have my opinions and you have yours.
By declaring that trading away 2 recent 1st round picks is nothing suggests you are not aware of how valuable a 1st round pick is.
Is it too much to expect a return in line with Danton Heinen and draft picks (a 2026 2nd and 2027 3rd rounder) for the 2 former 1st rounders combined?
His teams have finished 31 or 32 every year he’s been GM. How many years more years of the bottom are you going to allow to see what comes? Answer that question with a specific year in which the team makes a long playoff run.
Seth Jones won the Cup, made the Olympic team, and was having a solid season until he got hurt. Knight’s start was amazing, he’s come back to earth since. The Hawks are still paying $2.5 of Jones. I am going to allow time to see what comes of whatever this trade turns out to be before declaring KD the new Sam Pollock.
I too remember people writing about toughness back on HB in those times. I thought those teams were tough enough and the poster was wrong. No toughness no Cup went overboard. Can’t remember a single post you have ever written until today but I am going to take a guess: You are probably one of those posters still whining about the Danault trade and how horrible a job Bowman did. You probably think that Tallon deserves all the credit for his drafting of Duncan Keith. Even though Keith was drafted by Smith. That’s insane Steve and yes you weren’t getting that back. It’s why I call it an act because your expectations aren’t based in any sort of reality.

ParticipantThanks for the back and forth. Clearly you are in the Davidson can do no wrong crowd. It’s adorable how beloved he is. I said the returns are underwhelming. Are you overwhelmed? I prefer when GM’s fluff up their prospects before trading them like Columbus just did instead of burying them and selling them cheap. I will double down on my sad sack attitude: One of the NHL goalies will probably get hurt in the next couple of games and people will wish there was capable NHL backup in the system to keep the playoff dream alive. Ooops Hawks traded one to meet the salary floor. I think the Hawks have interesting prospects and other teams do as well. Hard to tell who is going to be better till they start playing with and against men. It is unclear how any of them develop. Rinzel was hyped as coming in on the top D pair. He was rushed. Frondell, Nestrasil, Spellacy, and Kansterov are all going to be projected as top 6 forwards for next season and all of them would benefit from a year in Rockford or stay where they are.
First of all yawn…your act is tiresome. Also, where did I shower KFC with love over the deal and say he couldn’t do any wrong? It’s a nothing deal…move along, next to nothing to see here.
In typical fashion, you didn’t answer my question. I asked what you expected in return for either Reichel or Allan and instead you deflect by claiming I’m in the KFC can do no wrong camp. Unlike you I’m allowing time to see what comes of whatever he does.
I saw where you were pining for Seth Jones without acknowledging KFC got out from under a bad deal and somehow got the Panthers to send the Hawks Spencer Knight. You’re the same type of poster I watched over at HB cry and scream about how weak and soft the Hawks were in the wake of the 2010 Cup while all they did was go on and win two more.

ParticipantThe pro-Davidson crowd cheers every move he makes. The take on the latest move is that the Hawks have to clear roster spots for all their prospects. If this is the motivation, I guess there is no point in hoping for Free Agents in the summer or trades of prospect/picks for players that can help now. I wonder what the improvement here would have been if Davidson had signed Orlov, Dvorak, and Jenault in the offseason to augment the current roster. I thought that would have been a reasonable move that would have bought time for the prospect to patiently develop in the AHL while winning more at the NHL level. The teams that signed them are rebuilding and are ahead of the Hawks in the standings at the same time. Grier in particular is likely to be the GM of the year if they eek into the playoffs. The returns for 2 former first rounders is underwhelming. Hard to believe the return could have been less. One of the results of going to the WJC in Minnesota is seeing how many good prospects the other teams have in the pipeline while their NHL rosters are currently ahead of the Hawks. Washington, Montreal, and San Jose have some studs on the way amongst others. I am not sure what Allan will ultimately become but in his defense I believe he has played under 5 NHL head coaches and at least 4 AHL head coaches since he was drafted.
You’re not sure what Allan’s ceiling is yet this is a horrible trade. I said it yesterday, that this is pretty much a nothing trade and figured you’d be here bemoaning the deal in your typical sad sack way. Allen and Reichel were first round picks. So what? What did you think you were going to get for either? This oughta be good.
Also, you were posting a few days back how high you were on the prospects of Frondell and Nestrasil but now other team’s shiny new toys are better. Okay.
Earl Camembert
ParticipantGrier playing chess, Kyle playing checkers. Allan didn’t need to be moved yet. It’s still early January for cripes sake. Could’ve just been Ellis for Brossoit without bending over and showing the undercarriage. C’est la vie
Allan’s not waiver exempt after this season and I believe Furlow is.

Participant<p class=”userway-s15-active” data-userway-s15-styled=”true” style=”font-family: UDF, serif !important; transition: all;”>I haven’t been around as I was busy moving, but I wanted to say things are looking good. On pace for an 82 point season. Heck of a strong improvement for a young team. We need only 9 points to match the 52 point season two years ago and only 18 more to match last year. Been saying it since the end of last season, we likely get about 75 to 80 points and get out of the bottom 3 to 5 teams. Last season the offensive production improved, this year better D and goaltending. Soon it will be about building around the core by filling holes and maximizing depth to be a real contender.
According to Steve from Glencoe nothing is going right.
I stopped by to see how much he might be wailing about a nothing trade like the one that went down today and how KFC is the Prince of Darkness and has never done anything right in his miserable existence.
This team winning games under KFC’s watch is to Steve like garlic, sunlight and crosses are for vampires.

I know this is heresy but I think Bedard’s shot makes Dinky’s shot look like a junior player.
Gasp!😱
Earl Camembert
ParticipantOh God no! (sorry don’t know how to do red font over here)
Earl Camembert
ParticipantLots of top end shooters in the Hawks’ prospect pool. Lardis may be the best, Kantserov, Frondell, Behm, Nestrasil and not quite in the same league but very very good is Vanacker.
I know your talking prospects but that kid Bedard has a pretty good shot too.
