I think it was good to sent Cowen to the Marlies and have him play top 6 minutes in the AHL.
I agree.
In the AHL he’ll be taught how to play all areas of the ice. Some wingers come into the NHL with loads of offensive skill, but are terrible when it comes to the defensive side of things. They don’t kill penalties, block shots, back check etc.
The Leafs have an issue with a couple wingers who play big minutes, but are strictly offensive minded.
McDavid signed for 12.5M because he knows Marner is his closest comparable in the league.
