I saw the same thing … the puck doesn’t stay long on his stick, boom and it’s in the net.
Like you, I could see him working well eventually with Demidov as their styles are complimentary … Bolduc also brings in that 200 foot game (physical aspect/puck retrieval/forechecking).
The more I watch videos of Bolduc, the more I like his play … he seems like a stubborn dog on a bone. ????
Great replacement for Heineman with a lot more upside IMO.

As for Laine, I don’t see him being with the team once his contract is up at the end of the season … he barely moves out there, his only asset is his shot and the opponents know it.
He’s way too expensive for what he brings (PP specialist only).

Only thing is that Dobson should open up things down low. Hutson is great but he has no shot. Teams weren’t worried about his shot so they were able to have more guys down low to defend. With Dobson who has a great shot they will have to respect his shot, this will stretch out the defensive box and open-up passing lanes. It should help Laine find space and to get open.

But Caufield can also do this so I don’t see a future for Laine either, that’s why I hope they put Bolduc on the top 6 and 2nd PP unit

You saw the $$ centres were getting on the open market. Hughes is right not to go with this madness.

Also, Hughes knows this team is not a cup contender next season. He made a big trade for Dobson, but dont expect him to solve everything all at once. I think he said something about that idea as well.

We dont know how a guy like Bolduc will look up front, he may be a good fit on the other wing with Demidov. Or bring some skills and grit on that bottom 6.

Guys like Newhook and Dach have contrats and are still on this team as speak. They both can play centre and st-louis might need them to do just that.

Maybe Hughes can make a trade later this summer, he has done that in the past. Or he can start with this team and see how it goes. More teams could be open to trade around US thanks guiving and near the trade deadline.

If you want to make a trade, you need somebody to trade with. Never forget that part.

I looked at a reel of all of Bolduc’s goals last year, he has a great shot. 80% of them where from center of the ice high slot with either a one timer or a wrister. Looks like he’s great at fiding the open ice to make himself open.
I think he might fit in well with Demidov who likes to skate with the puck and create plays.
I don’t think Laine will be a great fit, too static and whoever they will be centered by won’t be a selke nominee for sure. You need another winger that can play the 200 foot game and I think Bolduc is more capable in that department or otherwise. I think Demidov, Dach, Laine is too much of a liability.

I disagree, both Newhook and Dach are much better looking than Dovrak. Pretty much anybody is.

    not at winning faceoffs

    No, they are terrible.

Luckily Suzuki has improved that part of his game alot, Evans is one of the best.

Owen Beck is also a faceoff specialist, might work in his favor

Too early to make line ups IMO, HuGo still have some work to do

Yeah but it’s fun to do.

Also, it take two to tango, there’s no guarantee he’ll find a dance partner. There’s a strong possibility that these are the pieces that St-Louis will have to work with and the start of the season at least.

yep. need a #2C, and after losing Dvorak also need a #3C.
they could always go with Dach and Newhook but that won’t be pretty.

    Getting Dobson was HUUGEEEE!
Bolduc is a nice addition and still has some untapped potential
Blais is also a positive addition. Way better than the Pezz and he should fit right in on the 4th line.

It’s gonna be hard to match Pezz’s 0 point production.

Don’t know if he’ll play, line up should look something like this I guess :

    Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
    Laine/Bolduc – Dach – Demidov

Then it gets weird, Gallagher and Anderson were good together..
Maybe Gallagher – Evans – Anderson?
    Bolduc/Laine – Newhook – Beck/Kapanen/Blais/Roy/Xhekaj?

Yeah, good deal for what he brings.

But I am glad we have moved on from the Dvoraks and Armias.

    Looking forward, not backwards.

We must go forward, not backward. Upward, not forward. And always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.

We have Suzuki Dach Newhook Evans and kapanen if Dach can get his head out of his ass it’s not bad. I just don’t trust Laine to complete the top6 but Bolduc may have that potential.

Dach just needs to stay healthy.

Bolduc can / has played center, not sure if he is another realistic option.

    Ideally, Laine gets traded.

He played center his 2 first juniors years but at wing his last two and at wing since he turned pro. He’s probably more efficient at wing where he can be more aggressive on the fore check, he likes to hit.

They need more skills in that top 6, but sure.
And its looking more and more like Dach will be the 2C to start the season.

Asking price for top 6 centermen must be through the roof because MANY teams are looking for one.
Even Dvorak got a big contract with Philly …

Yeah he was probably the best center available after Granlund with Suter.

Dach could probably do the job between Kyrou and Demidov, but I don’t trust him to carry Laine and a rookie
