ParticipantI just don’t get to watch hockey nearly as often because it coincides with trying to get the kiddo to bed most of the time so half the time I only catch the 3rd, or updates on twitter and it’s like ehh I don’t know shit about shit anymore.

ParticipantOne thing that I think will benefit a team of old guys and rookies is that fact muse is actually rolling 4 lines. That’s a lot of miles over the course of the year not on sod and Geno.
Sully was notorious for rolling 4 lines, even in the most inopportune times — but Muse actually has 4 lines playing well. It’s the D/Goalies we have to worry about.

ParticipantI don’t know if is sustainable, but damn. I sure didn’t see this coming. Kindel walks into the NHL and looks like a 5 year vet at 18.
Me and Feds were talking about that today. Pens and Red Wings both in 1st place in their division. What is it, 2009?
I think their are aspects of this play that are sustainable but in my opinion it’s going to come down to goaltending and the special teams. PP and PK are clicking right now and both goalies are playing really well and doing a great job of making the first save, and not having to make that second save because our D is clearing it from the front.
Honestly, the last few games have reminded me of the 2015-16 Pens where they would just trade chances with the other teams and normally come out on top. Their shot share is usually on the wrong side of where you want to be, but their quality chances are exactly where we want to be.

ParticipantJarry was fantastic tonight.
Man, when Jarry is on, he’s really fucking good but it is so hard to trust him over a full season, I am always wondering when he’s going to implode. It’s never a 1 game implode, it’s always a multigame slide.

ParticipantI live in the west (and have no children) and they are brutal
Isn’t that a normal 7:30PM start for you? Hahaha.

ParticipantMan these late games are killer when you have a 2 year old who needs to be up at 7AM. I’m usually out by like 11:30. The whiskey didn’t help.

ParticipantThe D is more active in the O-zone while the Pens have possession, and aren’t taking as many unnecessary pinches at the blue line to try to regain possession. The forwards are circling back higher when the D activates so I think there’s been less odd-man rushes. At the beginning of the season the PK was way more aggressive, with the guy up top pressuring the puck handler and the bottom 3 PKers were clogging the high danger areas. That kind of went away the last few games, so hopefully they can correct that.
I’ve seen quotes on Muse wanted to move up the ice as a unit, it seems like he is going to mold his system to his players rather than force them to play his specific style. Yohe reported that people in the Pens org are impressed by his dedication at the rink.

ParticipantHoly sh!t Boyd, that’s what it is that I couldn’t put my finger on. The triangle is gone hahaha
Yeah they did that with the other yellow ones too, I hate when they do that. They also made the stick yellow which bugs me a little bit. I just felt like they were underwhelming.

ParticipantI hate the floating penguin. I wish the triangle was still there. That’s my only gripe. I think I would have preferred 3 stripes on the socks too instead of the single thick stripe.

ParticipantPart of me would like to see Rust and Karlsson traded. Not so much Rakell. Graves and Jarry we’ll just have to be patient. Ain’t no one taking those contracts.
I’d trade anything for the right return….other than Sid of course. Rak likely gets us the best return. This is far from a playoff team, so let’s get bottom 3. This team needs some top end prospects.
I go back and forth between who gets the best return on those 2. A lot of teams are going to look at Rust as the proven playoff performer with that “clutch” factor. While I personally think Rakell is the better player production wise… I don’t really know who’s got the better chance at bringing in a good prospect.

ParticipantSo, I hadnt been over to HB in a few weeks. Thought to have a look this morning and Ek’s main story caught my attention, so I opened it up for a read. He’s saying that the bans were random because of site glitches. I can post there again. There is now only like 6 or 7 team blogs in total.
“Hey gang.
This website is 15 years old.
Hockeybuzz itself has been around for 20 years, but this version of the website is 15 years old. As an in dependent website, paying our own boills and trying to create a place for you guys to come and be able to talk and discuss all sorts of hickey topics there never seems to be a right time to re-launch a new version…. I definitely wasn’t going to do it with the draft and free agency, because that is one of our busiest times of the year….
But the website is a mess and I have a whole bunch of new writers, many of whom have not even been posted yet on here because of how messed up the website is. Also, there have been blogs and comments disappearing, and people being banned for no reason at all. Along with other data issues, which affected many of you being able to login…..
The new website is really awesome, and I hope that 15-year-old hockeybuzz.com would survive until the site was ready and everything was hopping…. I fear that I asked too much of it.
We have three different teams working on this right now. One is trying to just fix all the database problems on the current site. Another is putting the finishing touches on the future site. And another that is developing a short-term solution that will be a temporary site without the bells and whistles, but will function properly and will enable everybody to post and us to launch new writers, etc.
The temporary site is coming in a few days here…. The full site will be here not that long after…
But at our core, we need to be a site that enables writers to write and readers to comment…
Again, I really appreciate the patience and I’m trying to answer all the emails I’ve gotten. If your season ticket got messed up, you’ll be automatically upped for an extra year.
I am not a coder nor am I a technical person, so it’s time for me to get back to rumors and why you come here, but I just wanted to make sure that you understood what is going on….
Cheers”
Will believe it when I see it, on the positive note — this site isn’t cancer to my computer or phone. I like it.

ParticipantYeah, I knew the CHL and NCAA rules changed, but wasn’t sure where the line was for being allowed to go to the NCAA. I see that’s it’s signing an NHL contract. This still seems too restrictive since many players sign that deal immediately after getting drafted but then don’t play a pro game for at least a year or two. Why not let them play NCAA if it’s best for them?
There’s been some changes recently with the NCAA. I believe in the past, kids from juniors weren’t allowed to go to the NCAA because they were technically receiving payment even though it was more of a stipend but with the NCAA now allowed to pay athletes, the rules changed a bit and juniors kids can now go to the NCAA after juniors and before the NHL since it’s not a pro contract — I’m not completely up to speed on it but I’m pretty sure it was usually juniors or college before and now they can do both which should be better for future kids developments.
