From everything I have read about this draft, 1. its not a strong draft and 2. after Schaefer and Misa, just put the players into the ping pong ball machine and take what comes up. Anytime there is not a concensus on players in the top 10, there is a high chance for a team to pick the wrong player, so just have to hope the Flyers pick the right player. But I also think teams like the Flyers and Boston, who are both ready to add players and get back to contention, have a high probability of trading their pciks for established players.

Well, the annual porking of the ping ball balls was right on schedule. This team can’t catch a break it seems. For those who watched, the Flyers were 1 number away from winning the lottery. In other draft years this might have stung more, but given this is a down draft, its not the end of the world. I was hoping the Flyers would trade this pick anyway for a younger, established player, but given where they ended up at the 6th pick, perhaps the value isn’t there to do so. At least we can’t say the Flyers didn’t try to tank for a top pick.
