That may have been the most important win of the year. Playing almost the entire game tied and not letting up. They score, questionable call ties it up a couple minutes later. As for the scrum, i love the Quick is so competitive. He gave an insane performance and was minutes away from at least an overtime point. Side note, the “look” of the game was really cool. Vintage looking sweaters and two original six teams going at it. Thanks for that take!

Thank you for coming by!!! I really loved the response. Quick was so good, the team could have been frustrated and quit. Instead they kept at it, really impressive. I’d still like to see a top 4 dman, but this response was a welcome one after the Buffalo game for sure

That was about the strangest turnaround i can remember! Definitely good to see Edvinsson grab the game winner, had a tough run. You’re absolutely right, going down four is NOT a recipe for success! Hoping they can start strong on this stretch of road games. Thanks for dropping by!

TXFAN i saw the same. Kilfoil’s goal was huge, big moment. I didn’t see a ton of other plays. But Danielson, Lombardi and Buium were visible every shift. Very impressive.

Game 2 definitely felt like you didn’t have the big saves that Guimond gave. Nice call on that!

Brother i am so happy that hockey is back! Sorry for the delay on response. Detroit has added so much offensive power into the system. The announce team continually mentioned the speed and skill. In 2019 that was not what was being said. To Yzerman’s credit, he’s added players that are getting a lot of buzz. ASP is incredible with the puck. His passing, shot selections, ability to recover. MBN, when he turns it on, makes some magic out there too. Finnie, Doucet, Lombardi, Danielson, Buium, Bantle. All guys that got my attention. KILFOIL’S backhand goal was unreal. So happy to see it back!

Your point is well taken. Because it’s one game and only against prospects it’s difficult to translate to how this would play out in the NHL. The biggest takeaway are the tendencies of the individual players. Buium’s reaction to a faceoff win that led to a goal. Sandin-Pellikka’s shot selections and decision making. MBN’s goal, he stopped up just inside the zone, moved the puck and repositioned for a return pass. Finnie has immense power in his game. Etc. many of the players have an offensive mindset and in this type of game a lot of their instincts are on display as opposed to systems that were developed. Then, how will they translate in camp against NHLers. Then preseason etc. so much fun to watch. Not too long ago the system was loaded with kids who didn’t shoot the puck. Clearly that’s not an issue now!

    Hello again!!!

I’m not sure what happened, I saw your original reply in my email but it didn’t appear on the website. I’ll see if i can figure that one out!!!

As far as the stadiums, Detroit’s new arena is fantastic. I’ve actually sat in the seats furthest back and the way it is laid out you can absolutely see the game well! I believe they looked to Montreal for some design ideas. The fans are on top of the action all throughout the arena. Ticket prices can be all over the place. If games don’t sell out you can sometimes get amazing deals. But, for a team like Toronto that is always packed it’s very difficult (I’ve heard) to get in. In Detroit, you can still get a good deal on a ticket and a good view pretty much anywhere!

Danielson, physically, has really started to fill out. At 6’1” or 6”2” he’s listed at near 190lb but may have put on even more muscle this summer. I think that’s a big advantage for him over Lombardi. If he makes the cut, I feel confident he can physically manage the game. ASP needs to bulk up, but is incredibly clever. MBN, they called him panda because he can be a mountain out there! Already able to push players aside and make his presence known. I’m very excited about the prospects and it’s a great opportunity to watch so many of them this year between the AHL and NHL
