Stephane Lefebvre was running a country club … very few players graduated from the AHL under the Bergevin/Timmins/Lefebvre regime.
That’s why Bergevin was forced to trade away picks to keep the team competitive (and keep his job), his only strategy was to keep Price happy and build a turtle shell around him … that’s why Molson eventually cleaned house.
I will never say enough how grateful I am to have seen their incompetent asses go away … we’ve been improving ever since once we committed to a full rebuild.Once of the main reasons I have a lot of patience for this rebuild.
It was a complete organization overall, new philosophy top to bottom, and getting the guys who could execute on that.

ParticipantHe has played 302 NHL games more than anyone in this chat room.
to be fair, if this was the criteria we wouldn’t ever be talking about hockey players or make fun of them, ever lol.
but I get it, McCarron is having a decent NHL career, he’s just a reminder of all those shitty years the habs had in terms of drafting and development.
For sure.
But it was more than just drafting mistakes – they had terrible a terrible development team.
I wonder how some of those players might have turned out if they had the development programs the Habs have put into place since Gorton and Hughes showed up?
Who knows… but I think it is just as important as good drafting.
I may not like some of MSL’s decision making during games, but from him down to Laval and the rest of the development team that works with players in all leagues, that has made a world of difference.

ParticipantSo Michael McCarron

Not defending the 1st round pick, but the guy has made due with the limited skillset he has to have a decent career.
If not for Leks, that draft would be a complete bust.
Mash
Participant2nd round, though
don’t think either wang or nestrasil make it to the 2nd rd. 15 to 25 is my guess for both.
If that is the case, some good picks left for the early 2nd round.

I just copy paste the original message (with author’s name) and then respond.
Easier with no fuss, it looks cleaner and it works every time.AgEEd.
Just highlight the text, use the b-quote, and add some zany reference at the top indicating the poster.
More fun.

ParticipantI’m pretty sure I had only Gramp’s quote in but it still didn’t want to post.
Anyway, it’s a lot less fuss copy/pasting anyway.when i see all the gibberish in the quote, i know it’s doing the weird thing so i delete everything after the bracket and before the post i’m quoting. it’s a bit of a pain but it only takes a sec.

ParticipantI think there were roomers about Dobson wanting out, which would be the only logical explanation, but whether this is true or not remains to be seen lol
He should go to

ParticipantI keep seeing lots of mock drafts with Frondel #2
i hope so. i really like misa. it has come from some of the more credible sources about frondell at 2.
habs should get a couple of decent middle 6 prospect with some size if they keep the pick. If he is still there, I could see HuGo taking a flyer on Wang (giggles) with one of those picks.
Yeah, him or the giant Russian winger Nestrasil.
2nd round, though.

Participant“Hot. Otherwise, okay. How ya doing?” – Gramps
Good thanks, nothing new really.
Looking forward to the draft tomorrow night and what wheeling and dealing GM’s are going to do over the weekend.PS: That quoting button works half of the time … frustrating as hell. ????
If you have more than 2 quotes in it, it does not work.
Mash
ParticipantHabs trade for Dobson yet?
that would be sweet, but 1-why would Darche want to do this, and 2-who are you giving in return?
Yeah, their top 2 could be a force for a decade+.
Seems silly to trade him.

6 foot 6, 222lbs, that’s a big Wang.
I think there is a good chance the Habs pick him in the 2nd round.
Would cement HuGo’s BDE.

ParticipantWatching the Gorton presser:
1) He said this is a big weekend for us, a big summer for us, but we are not going to do anything stupid
2) With the cap going up, most teams have a very different approach this summer with the extra cap space, discussions / deals are very different looking
3) Going to continue to build on the team so that is it strong for many years, that has not changed
4) They are weary of making a trade / change for a player that may not fit their long-term plans or not be a good fit in the locker roomSetting some good expectations.

ParticipantA short man on a tree stump says through the crowd:
it’s odd because I keep hearing how it isn’t a very deep draft, and yet the descriptions I’m reading about the players in the projected top 20 all sound very promising
I think there are a lot of (potential) middle 6 forwards, but few top end ones.
After the top 2 or 3, it could be a crazy draft.
