ParticipantMerry Christmas Eve Eve everybody !
I like it here.
Even when two of you are disagreeing about Danault, you are still nice people.🤘

ParticipantI just don’t see any decisions regarding this present personnel group causes a playoff game playoff win or (gulp) Cup run.
Nothing that is decided now or in the next months determines that, and I don’t think Kyle gets a pass, but there hasn’t been a biug swing by him towards a NHL addition, but there aint many trades he can make that reshapes the room.
How Kyle and ownership handle additions via free agency and who determines further re-shaping, to me, again, is a question far down the developmental path, and not worth discussion now.
How does any meager moves now affect the next first round pick? It doesn’t matter enough to put him on a spike.
These are all sensible takes on the situation, thanks Wiz.

ParticipantJeez SFG, did KD’s mother dump you in high school?
🤣🤣🤣

ParticipantProspect development is not linear — every player follows a different path.
re Rinzel:
Nik Hjalmarrson played 13 games in the NHL in his 20 year old season and 21 games in the NHL as a 21 year old.
He did not stick w/ The Hawks until the season after he turned 22.Did they rush Hjalmarrson? Or were they just “trying him out”? He’s a different player than Rinzel, for sure.
But it’s a valid example that, even with a player who becomes excellent in the NHL, they don’t always know when the player is ready.🤘

Participantit is moot whether Marchment had Chicago on his no trade list or not
It’s just a point of curiosity sir, since Frenchy mentioned Marchment being available and he went to a team low in the standings.
Metalhead
ParticipantIf a player had Chicago on a no trade list and was ok with Columbus, we don’t need that guy.
Point taken.
That’s why I wondered if maybe the CBJ shot him a contract number he liked to go there.
That would make the most sense imo. Maybe we’ll find out.Metalhead
ParticipantThe Kraken look like a team that could become sellers very soon. Mason Marchment will be a UFA at the end of the season
Frenchy, good call on Marchment being available. Columbus swooped in, not a super huge cost.
He has a 10 team no trade list, I wonder if the Hawks tried for him. If so, were the Hawks on his list?
Columbus is last in the East, so it’s not like he went there for a playoff run this year.
Maybe they already shot him a number for his next contract?Metalhead
ParticipantGood job by the Habs tonight.
The Hawks are adrift and offensively helpless right now.Metalhead
ParticipantOn a different front I was wondering why the HAWKS don’t give Brossoit a look ,he was a good signing until the injury .Could they not sent Soderboom down without waivers ,if not I get it .
Soderblom is not waivers exempt, though he might get through if they tried it.
After Brossoit finished his consitioning stint, the Hawks had/have no back-to-back games until Dec 27th/28th.
That would be the next time they need the backup, unless they want extra rest for Knight.
If they send Toninato back down, they could temporarily roster 3 goalies to give Brossoit a game.Metalhead
ParticipantDang looks like I’m good luck for the Habs.
I’m gonna start charging to hang out here during games.Metalhead
ParticipantMind if I hang out here during a Habs/Hawks game?
The Hawks board is so bad I wanna hang with you guys.I promise I’ll keep all Hawks enthusiasm to myself.
Metalhead
ParticipantBrossoit is already on waivers.
Lets us know nobody wanted him so far.
Hopefully he clears and starts looking good for a while in Rockford.
Wishing him success if he gets claimed.Bedard is only on IR, not LTIR, but the word from Sportsnet is he will be reevaluated in January.
Metalhead
ParticipantIf Soderblom got waived, he might very well make it to Rockford.
Unless I read the rules wrong, AHL conditioning assignments are capped at 2 weeks. That’s Tuesday for Brossoit, and the Icehogs don’t play again until Saturday.
Brossoit will likely get a look with the Hawks.
However, he has been injured his entire career. He is 32 years old. He has not played an NHL game in almost 2 years.
Expectations should be kept realistic. (fingers crossed though!)
Even if he looks good, we don’t know if they changed their thoughts on trading him because Soderblom has struggled.
If Bedard is done playing until after the Olympics, they might just keep Soderblom and only use him sparingly.
The Hawks next back-to-back games are the 27th/28th. That could be the next time they use the backup, unless they think Knight needs extra rest. They can handle rostering 3 goalies over the short term, though I still say it is reckless to only have 6 rostered d-men.
Metalhead
ParticipantSoderblom sucks.
I said it earlier this season:
He’s a backup goalie for a non-playoff team.Metalhead
ParticipantI had Crevier, short handed as the game’s first goal.
Did anybody else? -
