ParticipantI’m sure there is a variety of people on this board. (although I think we might skew a bit to the “older” side, not sure)
Different business careers and industries.
Maybe even a range from a CEO of a company all the way down to a grade school janitor. Who knows.
And personal: long time marriages, divorced, never or not yet married, who knows.
No children, one child, or a ton of kids. Probably a variety of personal backgrounds also. What I really *would* like to know is, who, if anyone reading or commenting on this board
can say that any notable part of their success in life came from complaining about things that are out of their control.Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?
Please respond with a story about how bitching about something *you have no control over* produced something significant for you.
I will also like to read some stories detailing how “feeling sorry for myself” produced a tangible, positive outcome.Metalhead
ParticipantPerfect 3+3+3 for the Sabres.
Unlike last night, this is not a game you can learn from or that builds character.
You toss it in the dumpster and forget it ever happened.🤘
Metalhead
ParticipantI’m surprised the Sabres have not had several “too many men” penalties
considering how eager they all must be to get back on the ice.Metalhead
ParticipantI know I am not the only one that watches games that do not involve the Hawks, Mackinnon, McDavid, Hughes (often injured) get hacked and whacked in prime scoring positions with no penalty called.
Interesting about head hits too, I remember on the old board when Hagel ran Barkov with a direct head hit in the playoffs without the puck and Barkov was called soft.So many fans of every team in every sport are convinced that the refs/umpires/officials hate their team and want to screw them over.

ParticipantBad Rinzel turnover leads to goal 7 (!)

Participantre the Bedard 2nd period breakaway:
He needs to learn that he doesn’t need to stuff the puck in every time.
With his release and accuracy, he can beat a goalie 1 on 1 from 15 feet out.Metalhead
ParticipantGood Fooking Gawd !
Just tuned in middle of the 2nd, what in da heck ?!?Metalhead
ParticipantHe has to get away from the 11/7 split. If you have to worry about these defenseman so much, maybe they don’t belong in the NHL.
Excellent way to put it.
Murphy is due for a groin injury flare-up, give him a game off here and there.
They have 19 games in the next 40 days, perfect time to go 12/6 and see who is ready for the grind.Metalhead
ParticipantFor sure. You have to get thru games in a season where the calls don’t go your way, you’re frustrated against a muck it up team, not let your frustrations put you in the box, goals that are deflected in for when you played the sequence perfectly, when you don’t get any puck luck, where you lose players in game and forced to play shorthanded and on and on. No team that is a serious threat in the playoffs has not learned these things along the way. … None of them.
Nobody can win anything meaningful without conquering adversity and you don’t learn without games like this one………. And, Bedard knows it. The guy who will be on the ice the most and take every single important minute of every season. After the game he said I have to be better, I can’t put my team in bad spots like I did.
I agree with every bit of this.
I’ll add that I’m very disappointed in Blashill for going easy on Bedard after the game.
Hopefully he was tougher on him in private.Metalhead
ParticipantThey just learned the hard way hockey is a 3 period game.
Well said, sir.
Metalhead
ParticipantToo each his own but I hope the Hawk’s takeaway is nothing like your post, Dots. Keeping your mouth shut in a tied game, that your group gave up 2 3rd period goals to lose the lead with 2:30 left is Hockey 101 for a 15 yr old. ……… Watching the SEA feed Eddie O pointed out the ref didn’t put his arm up until Bedard reached the blueline sniveling the whole way. Ref will give you your bitch but don’t be a punk about it or you go on the PK and lose games/points.
Well said sir! I’m 100% in agreement with you, Mr Ricochet.
The ref let Bedard get away with a LOT.Note: I was also very disappointed with Foligno’s behavior last year after being named Captain.
He acted out like a clown several times, which did not set a good example for the youngsters.Metalhead
ParticipantWell said Mr Ricochet.
Character builder tonight for sure.Fancy stats wound up rather even overall.
Regardless of particulars, Seattle earned a hard fought road win tonight.Metalhead
Participantwell this sucks
time to find out who they are
Metalhead
ParticipantLate in the 2nd I saw Arty and Rinzel carry the puck below the Seattle goal line.
I could live without that in the 3rd.
Not needed with a 2 goal lead vs a team ranked 28th in goals per game.
Wait for them to pinch, get behind them and make it 3-0.Make them go 200 feet again and again and again.
Somebody did that to the Hawks earlier this season. Just smothered them in the 3rd with a lead.Metalhead
ParticipantIn a season of horrid 2nd periods, that was a great one.
