B Bag, excellent post and points. Indeed, I didn’t do even close to a deep dive into the fancies when posting about Artie. I just rarely do that anymore, so many hours down the NST rabbit hole I get PTSD when I visit the site and as a result depend greatly on guys like you who contribute to that discussion…….. The eye test shows me very little structure outa Artie, a lot of inconsistency yet his CF% is excellent. Tells me without sliding all the way to the right at NST to see zone starts that Artie is sheltered. Eye test says that right?
But still brah, the eye is telling us Bedard and Nazar were dangerous in Florida but they had 25 CF% and you know they’re sheltered. 19 yr old Artie was 53 CF% being sheltered in the same game.
I’m with you dude. We see what the kid can do at 19. I’d love for him to get 50-60 games in the AHL and come back later in the yr and stack his physical traits on top that foundation. But if he stays up and is able to stay paired with Kaiser I don’t think he’ll be stunted like KK was.
Burakovsky. The play where he took a pass near the sidewalll deep, turning head up immediately looking at the slot, sees Bedard weakside, his feet move a tad to get a clean passing lane, the instant it opens his hands zip a flat pass in Bedard’s wheelhouse and he strikes.
That’s other level top 6 IQ, feet and hands. It’s in there with this 30 yr old who shows back class all the way back to the Hlinka. Guess we’ll find out why he’s been a middle 6er, only hit 60 pts once and in his 700 NHL games averages a bit over 1/2 point per. ……. But make no mistake, Burakovsky has serious traits, always has, and IMO is the 2nd best talent, after TT, he’s played with in the NHL.
Tried to respond to you Frenchy, TWICE, in your article about mates for Bedard yesterday before I said Fu#& this. Basically I was posting to my eye Bedard is different this yr. So different that I don’t think who his mates are the kid is gonna be dangerous. The surety in everything he does, combined with 2 NHL seasons and offseasons, is vastly different even when he had the nice hollow points rookie yr. Sure, the better his mates the more points and all that kinda stuff but this kid is gonna get a few HDCF every game no matter his mates. Combine that with what I feel is the best shot I have ever seen the kid looks like he won’t be denied.
How much he can make his mates better yet, the mark of a top player, we’ll see but I don’t think his mates can drag him down.
And pairing Artie with Kaiser has been gold. Zero chance Artie puts up a 53 and 64 CF% in the 2 games without Kaiser’s IQ, skating, reads and compete. …
I’m ascared to post more than a sentence cuz who the f%#* knows where it ends up but I like everything Blashill has done so far. His club has looked structured and considering the age of his 1 and 2C and a couple practically children in the D core, amazingly so. ……. How many times do we here about any club that they need to play a full 60 minutes? My eye says this group, under Blashill, has played two full 60 minute games.
Tells me by their structure they are taking his coaching and by 2 full 60 minute efforts they’ll play hard for the guy. … That’s good.
Good God this software……. Artie had a 53 corsi v the champs, 64 at Bpston. He’s 19 yrs old man and I think he leads the club in corsi for by a bunch. The eye test in these two games has shown a player who’s skill/skating/offensive upside can impact the game but he has some real WTF moments and his 3 stick penalties in the 2 games may have cost the team a win or even 2.
I came on to post if he keeps up these penalties they’re gonna have to sit him but man, the 19 yr old has underlying numbers that says you can’t. ………

Anyone notice how often the Hawks come in waves? They gain the zone and often enough they have a man coming in the 2nd tier and then another after him. They’ve done this a few times and it creates fantastic chances. Did that v Florida a couple times too….. Really tough to defend.
OK Rico, for as much as I think Crevier is “just a guy”, he certainly knows when to take an open shot. Love to see it.
6ft 8in, RS Dman, balanced skater. I can make room for a guy like that. Love he’s the 7th Dman so Blashill can spot him to succeed and not overload him. ……. Really wanna see the group get this win. 6 periods now of honest effort. Hope they’re rewarded.

Loved that he didn’t wind up for the one timer and instead a sweeping snap shot off in a blink. Combine that with that rocket 1 timer Bobrovsky saved and that’s being super dangerous twice in 2 games off that 1 timer for the kid. Beauty hands/play/feed from Burakovsky. Pass right in the wheelhouse.

When the Hawks get a surprise in the system that outplays his draft status and predictions, I hope it’s a power forward, a Kniess type. Don’t think Dach is a Kniess but he don’t have to be to be effective, especially with Bedard whizzing around and hopefully getting 4 SOG. … North-South, work the walls and make something/chaos in the crease.
What’s Blashill saying. 45-50 starts for Knight this yr or does he want him fresh for Saturday at home v MTL?
Korpisalo is a bottom tier borderline starter last I saw him. Always good to miss Swayman. Hawks have a chance to get to Korpi a bit. …… Interested to see Rinzel after his first bad NHL game. Bet he comes back pretty good.
Bedard has the look, man. The most surety in his game I’ve seen as a pro. Add what his offseason training/skating has done for him and I’m more excited to see him play since his first 15 NHL games.
Sure looks like the play the final 15ish games last yr has carried over, at least for tonight. I’m sure they were clubbed in the fancies but the club competed for 60 minutes and especially after getting swarmed the last 1/2 of the 1st.
