The fact is, he should not even be on the ice, just like he shouldn’t have been on the ice after knocking Knies out of the series. Those were not just clean, hard-nosed bodychecks. – Aeth
True. Bennett should still be serving a suspension for his blatant attempt to injure on Hagel in the first round.
Marchand should have been banned from the league years ago for countless flagrant attempts to injure.
Fact is, the NHL allows this shit and tacitly condones it when they refuse to punish for it. In any other realm of life, these are assaults that would result in criminal charges. They have nothing to do with playing the game. It’s about cheating to injure the other team’s players and remove them from the lineup.
Leafs fucked up by not murdering Bennett right afterwards. Bennett should still be recovering from the beatdown and going through rehab to get back on the ice sometime next season after he relearns to walk, eat, and talk again.
But it is what it is and Leafs fans just know to live with it. We have no choice.
