I hope they don’t press #6 into the lineup right away. Keeping Jett around to begin the season put him behind the 8-ball in a critical development season.

Let’s just say the Mike Richards comparisons pan out…. you build contending teams WITH that sort of player. LA might still have won their Cups without him (although he certainly helped). Martin isn’t my first preference but I won’t be upset if he’s the pick.

We could also say the same for the other draftees tho… like what if Frondell actually becomes Barkov, or Desnoyers actually becomes Bergeron, McQueen actually becomes Getzlaf, O’Brien actually becomes Yzerman, or Martone becomes a Tkachuk… wouldn’t any of those be more fundamental building blocks to a winning team than a “Mike Richards/Sam Bennett”?

Of course we know that it’s unlikely that ANY of those kids will reach those kinds of heights.

The Flyers NEED to swing for top-end talent and I don’t believe anybody sees Brady Martin having much of a chance at being a top of the lineup type of player.

This has to absolutely help the power play.

Historically he hasn’t been much of a PP producer.

Where he’s really gonna make a difference is on shootouts. Career 62%.

good trade. low risk potentially high reward….Zegras does have injury concerns. flyers never get a guy with a clean bill of health

When you don’t draft elite players of your own, you’re left with other teams’ damaged goods.

Hope the Zegras experiment turns out better than Drysdale has…

Guessing we’ll see Zegras back in the middle again?

I don’t think Marchment is what the Flyers need. His cap hit is $4.5M for one more year and I’d rather see the Flyers spend that on D or a goalie. Dallas has to make a couple moves to free up cap space. Give the kids a shot at filling out the forward slots.

Well he just went to Seattle for a 3rd and a 4th.

LeBrun says the Pens are the only bottom-feeder currently selling… the rest are trying to add lol.

So Flyers trying to “improve” while the Pens are making plans to tank for McKenna…

They didn’t roll the dice with MM as it was a no brainer pick.

    In hindsight yes.

At the time it was very much up for debate whether he would ever be able to come over to NA.

He is definitely the biggest Hail Mary swing. I’ve seen many reports that he is totally healed. That the problem was misdiagnosed and it turned out to be bone related and that the bone is now completely healed.

I just think the Flyers are too gunshy after what happened with Patrick. His combo of size and skill is exactly what the Flyers need, do they have the guts to take that chance?

They rolled the dice on Michkov’s ability to get out of Russia quickly and that was a franchise-altering moment. They need to be willing to make that kind of gamble again. I just don’t get the feeling like Frondell is anything more than another middle-six talent.

And for every Patrick there’s a Pasta, Rielly or Barzal that missed a chunk of their draft seasons and turned out just fine.

McQueen’s my preferred pick at #6. He possibly has the highest upside in the entire draft, he’s huge and he plays down the middle.

Not mad about it. He’s high impact defensively at least.
