Obviously great trade. No notes. All boxes checked. Good asset (2nd), good cap management by taking back expiring, and some potential deadline fodder. This was a guy that looked unreadable going into this season

Pens need wings. Rust is fading. Rak out another 6+ weeks. Koiv isn’t doing much. Hallander isn’t top 6. Unfortunately we had to call up Heinen instead of a young prospect. I’d rather see Avery Hayes get a look.

Rust has 11 points in 12 games, scoring at a top line rate per 60 at 5 on 5, and still a relative play driver although he’s fallen off in that category. Hes having some trouble coming across goals right now but that’s a sample size issue. No hes not in his prime anymore but he’s still a dude.

Rak injury hurts us but where we are in the timeline we shouldn’t be going out searching for wings. This team is going to do what it can do. Dubas won’t get in the way of success if the team finds it but he’s not going to go all in on this season either.

I’m here Pags66. Way to F us like that hahaha

Pens played a perfect f’n game of hockey for 40 mins. Sucks to lose that one but I do think this team has a different feel to it, for sure, and they will learn from this. Jarry had to save a few of those. If he does, Pens win.

First two periods were great. Even the post-game whipping boys of Pickering and Brunike looked good through the first two frames and then just ate shit in the final frame.

That said they’ve both earned a demotion.

Pickering might just not be very good but we need to keep giving him looks this year to make sure. Send him down to the A and let him work towards the next promotion to see if he can get his head on right.

Brunike didn’t pass the test this year. Really what he needs is the AHL but that’s not in the cards unfortunately. Gotta send him down to minors as shitty as it is. He’s not ready

I wish Grinder was here to tell me why Ben Kindel sucks.

I’ve only seen a couple games but their team play has looked much better, which obviously helps stop hanging out the goalies. And kudos to black Jarry, he’s doing his part. The kindel line has been dominating.

These next 5 games will be a good test though. I don’t think a 106 pdo is sustainable.

I’m not worried about PDO right now. Goaltending could take a bit of a dip and we’d still be perfectly fine.

I don’t know if is sustainable, but damn. I sure didn’t see this coming. Kindel walks into the NHL and looks like a 5 year vet at 18.

Me and Feds were talking about that today. Pens and Red Wings both in 1st place in their division. What is it, 2009?

I think their are aspects of this play that are sustainable but in my opinion it’s going to come down to goaltending and the special teams. PP and PK are clicking right now and both goalies are playing really well and doing a great job of making the first save, and not having to make that second save because our D is clearing it from the front.

Honestly, the last few games have reminded me of the 2015-16 Pens where they would just trade chances with the other teams and normally come out on top. Their shot share is usually on the wrong side of where you want to be, but their quality chances are exactly where we want to be.

The process right now is quite good and there’s no quit. Even if we’re generally outplayed, we’ll turn it up and absolutely dominate for a stretch and get on the board. As you say, high danger chances are where you want them to be so it’s not like we’re getting buried and then lucking into cheap goals that are inflating our win percentage. We aren’t dominant and susceptible to losing the flow of momentum, but we are resilient as hell and playing good system hockey. That should generally be sustainable.

What I’m not sure is sustainable is the conditioning. Our stars and core are super old and Kindle is 18 and brand new to the grueling pace of the nhl season, as the geezers and the kid start to get miles on their tires, play could seriously drop

That was fuckin filthy by the big fella.

He honestly has some skills. Continues to surprise me.

    Shockingly fun player

Anyways, this felt like a Battle of PA from years past. Not sure how long it’s been since the game had this much emotion. Hating Zegras is gonna be fun moving forward

3 points for ek. Hopefully he can keep up the ppg place so we can trade him to a contender.

    that contender is us

My Cup jokes aside it’s a shame we don’t have a deeper team cus this team feels like it’s kinda got it. I’d trade off a bunch of bottom six vets at the deadline and call up the kids and see what happens

2 goals out of the bottom 6 won’t get them far. (Kindel and Lizotte) a bigger surprise is both letang and ek have 0 points so far. I was concerned we would end up in no man’s land again at seasons end drafting 12-15th. Still early but looks like the real pens are showing up and maybe we will draft better than anticipated lol. Eventually brazaue will cool off too I imagine lol

Yeah good vibes after the first two games are pretty gone. Gonna be a rough season with some sporadic runs here and there. Hopefully we get to enjoy some moments from the stars and the young guys here and there.

    Good vibes never left. Cup.

Well kindel seems to be on the same plan. Boxscore bob here looked at his analytics and they’re actually quite impressive with his mediocre RW and loser of a LW. I would love for him to get Mcgroats, Hayes (Avery), Broz, or some other young feisty kids instead of Novak. Tomasino looked good last year with Malkin so maybe he’s ok.

I don’t see it with Tomasino at all. I bet he’ll be dealt
