Icehogs Dominate Wolves 6–1 In Rosemont

The Rockford IceHogs steamrolled past the Chicago Wolves on Tuesday night with an impressive 6–1 win inside Allstate Arena, capping off one of their best offensive performances of the young season.

It didn’t take long for Rockford to set the tone. Just 54 seconds in, rookie Nick Lardis snapped home a perfect feed from Brett Seney, beating Wolves’ goaltender Nikita Quapp cleanly.
Only 42 seconds laterJackson Cates made it 2–0 off a nice pass from Ryan Mast, catching Chicago flat-footed early.

The IceHogs weren’t done. Oliver Moore extended the lead to 3–0 midway through the opening frame before Lardis struck again at 17:45, wiring a quick shot from the far circle for his second of the night.
By the end of the first period, it was 4–0 Rockford, and both Lardis and Seney already had three points apiece, while Moore recorded two.

The momentum kept rolling in the second. Kevin Korchinski threaded a perfect cross-ice pass to Joey Anderson, who buried it for a 5–0 lead. Moments later, Samuel Savoie wristed home his second goal of the season from the left flank to make it 6–0.
Chicago finally broke the shutout when Felix Unger Sorum scored at 13:09, but that was all they could muster.

In net, Drew Commesso stood tall again, stopping 23 of 24 shots for his second straight victory (.958 SV%).
Rockford’s penalty kill was perfect, going 5-for-5, while both power plays came up empty on a combined 13 chances (Rockford 0/8, Chicago 0/5).

My Final Thought

That’s how you finish a road trip — with statement hockey.
The IceHogs came out flying, their top line dominated, and Drew Commesso looked calm and confident between the pipes.

The chemistry between Seney, Lardis, and Moore continues to build, and the young guns are stepping up at the right time.

Next up, the Hogs return home Saturday, November 1 at 7:00 PM for Día De Los Muertos Night against the Grand Rapids Griffins at the BMO Center.

Rockford is now 6–2–0–0 and climbing fast in the Central Division.

Let’s Go Hogs!
