Leafs On July 1 – Robertson Dealt To Pens

The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to be one of the more active teams in free agency, and the chatter regarding Norris Trophy winner Zach Werenski increased on Tuesday night, when it was reported that he blocked a trade to the Dallas Stars and that Tampa Bay and Toronto were on his wish list as possible destinations.

The first move was more of a clearing of a player that the Leafs have never really taken advantage of, as they dealt winger Nick Robertson to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 2028 fourth-round pick. The 24-year-old, in limited ice time, scored 45 goals over the past three seasons and received a qualifying offer from Toronto on Tuesday. Robertson now joins former Leafs GM Kyle Dubas, who chose him in the second round in 2019.

Will update throughout the day.
