Rangers Face Hurricanes With Miller

The New York Rangers are in Raleigh tonight to face the Carolina Hurricanes and K’Andre Miller this evening.  New York comes in off a win – finally –  defeating the Blues at home on Monday. As noted in Tuesday’s column and below, the schedule starts a rough patch tonight with the Blueshirts in Boston on Friday and home for Tampa on Saturday.

The lineup tonight is up in the air. Will Borgen and J.T. Miller are both game-time decisions, though both were in regular, full-contact jerseys, lending hope that they play tonight. If that proves to be the case, here is my projected lineup for this evening:

Cuylle-Zibanejad-Miller
Panarin-Trocheck-Lafrenière
Sheary-Laba-Berard
Edström-Carrick-Raddysh

Gavrikov-Fox
Soucy-Borgen
Schneider-Vaakanainen

Shesterkin
Garand

In this projection, Miller lands back on the first line, and Alexis Lafrenière slides down to play again with Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck. In this lineup, Jonny Brodzinski is the odd man out because the current third line has been effective. Personally, Brodzinski would either replace Conor Sheary on that trio with Sheary on the fourth line or sit for Taylor Raddysh, both of whom are interchangeable at this point. Any one of the three will be the extra forward.

Borgen is paired again with Carson Soucy, allowing Braden Schendier to move back to his regular side. In this scenario, Matthew Robertson is on the bench.
Igor, as expected, is back between the pipes. If Jonathan Quick is not ready, Dylan Garand could get his first action Friday or Saturday, neither game is an easy match-up.

Jusso Parsinnen cleared waivers. This is mildly surprising, as I could have seen him claim somewhere for depth. Parssinen was sent to Hartford with $1.15 mil of his $1.25 million buried in the minors. Part of that “cap savings” was already eaten up with Connor Mackey promoted. If Borgen is good to go, look for Mackey to be sent back down tomorrow, as Robertson is the extra d-man for the Tampa trip.

For this, asking why promote Connor Mackey as opposed to calling back up Scott Morrow, it’s CBA-related. See the Twitter stream below for explanation.

Schedule

Following the contests at Carolina, at Boston, and home for Tampa on Saturday, New York is also at MSG versus Dallas next Tuesday. The Rangers are at Ottawa next Thursday and then home for Colorado on Dec 6 and Vegas on Dec 7. You can extend this difficult stretch a few more games, because the Rangers face the Blackhawks on the road Dec 10, then welcome in Chris Kreider, Jacob Troub,a and Anaheim on Dec 15.

I wrote a very long, depressing post about the state of the team in the forum only to find out hours later this is here 🙁

The way Laba took the puck to the middle of the ice on that goal. The vets should take note

I’m loving the BBL line… Even just their last shit brodz waited at the door and made sure to fist bump the others for keeping the puck deep. That’s the type of stuff that leads to a great culture. Need to see the vets doing this more and not pouting

Yes we are but damn this format sucks.

It’s also incredibly slow, doesn’t always show updates, and quoting never works. I’m praying to the hockey gods we get a revamp that feels more like we’re in 2025

Lol, Jimmy that’s a great comparison!

Here’s to hoping this comment actually goes up! Half the time I contribute something I scroll back through the comments and it isnt there. 🤷

I’ve been on hockey blogs since 1997 one way or the other and this takes it all back to 1996 technology.
