Red Wings played a complete game in win
The Red Wings looked shaken during Friday’s loss to Anaheim, fortunately the team was prepared for the Sharks. The Wings had a strong start, as opposed to the season’s trend for tough first periods. Detroit put together their best, as well as their strongest full game effort in Sunday’s win.
Detroit’s young roster managed to bounce back, in particular the defensive core had a strong outing. The penalty kill unit was perfect for two kills, unfortunately San Jose’s PK was just as effective. Three defensemen figured in on the scoresheet, including Moritz Seider who scored his first goal of the year.
The Red Wings core players are leading the way
Lucas Raymond opened the scoring, with Dylan Larkin and ASP garnering assists. Raymond’s goal was strong, if not impressive as the winger avoided a hit and hit the far corner on a nice snap shot. The line of Larkin, Raymond and Finnie now has 38 points in 13 games, just shy of three points per game.
Moritz Seider’s first goal of the year was the result of strong cycle play, and strong game management. Simon Edvinsson had the primary assist, and Debrincat gathered another assist on the play. The Red Wings young core is coming together, and the win in San Jose looked like a big step forward. The team managed to move past a poor performance, and moves to 9-4-0 to start the season.
Detroit’s incredible weekend
JVR’s shootout goal secured a win, likewise the Griffins secured a new franchise record. Detroit’s AHL is rolling, in fact they hold an 8-0-0 record right now. The Griffins remain undefeated, consequently they are the only AHL team without a loss on the season.
Positivity is rolling through the organization, thus right now the Yzerplan has a new shine on it. The young NHL team is rolling, therein several prospects are fighting for a chance at a callup. There is strong competition on the ice, as well as inside the locker room. The environment feels ripe for a strong run, hopefully that it will lead to a return to the post season for the Wings.
