Rosen Gets His Chance With Sabres

Winger Isak Rosen is finally getting his chance to show his offensive talents with the Buffalo Sabres

The 22-year-old, who has led the AHL’s Rochester Americans in goal scoring over the past two seasons, has been called up to the big club, with an opportunity to make an impact. Rosen’s call-up comes as the Sabres continue to be hit hard by injuries so far this season. Forwards Zach Benson, Tyson Kozak, Justin Danforth and Josh Norris are all currently sidelined, creating the opening.

The skilled right winger scored five goals and added seven assists in eight games for the Amerks in October. Although Rosen has made 15 appearances with the Sabres over the past two seasons, this will be the first time he will see time playing with  Buffalo’s top three forward lines. Rosen showed his speed and scoring ability immediately. He netted a key goal in Buffalo’s 4-3 shootout victory over the visiting Washington Capitals on Saturday.  The goal was the first of Rosen’s NHL career.

“A really good feeling, of course”, said Rosen. Probably the best feeling ever. It was great to see it go in.

Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff inserted Rosen into the lineup on a line with Juri Kulich and Jack Quinn.

“He skated well,” said Ruff. “He’s really played well down there. (In Rochester) He’s coming up here knowing that we’re going to give him a good opportunity,  use him on the power play. Kind of play him where he’s been playing and get enough ice time with quality people to get something done.”

It’s only one game in, but so far, Rosen has responded to the challenge.
