Sharks Young Stars Look To Shine At Rookie Face-Off

The San Jose Sharks have the No.1 NHL prospect pool, and it isn’t close.

While Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith aren’t really prospects anymore, they still haven’t touched anything close to their full potential. Adding Michael Misa and Josh Ravensbergen as their two first-round picks in the 2025 NHL Draft makes their future that much brighter.

The Sharks will head to Irvine, CA, next weekend to participate in the 2025 Golden State Rookie Face-Off. Misa and Ravensbergen will be in attendance and could play in both exhibition games. Other top Sharks prospects that will be on the roster include 2024 first-round pick Sam Dickinson and 2023 first-round pick Quentin Musty.

Sharks Top The Prospect Rankings

According to Corey Pronman of The Athletic, the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks, the other two participating teams next weekend, don’t match the Sharks’ prospect pool. The Ducks have a solid prospect system, but rank fourth. The Kings are much further down the list at No. 21. While anything can happen over the weekend, and chemistry for a quick two-game set will be hard to find, the Sharks have the best potential to be the best-looking team.

San Jose is also bringing “veterans” to the tournament. Collin Graf and Luca Cagnoni have participated in this event multiple times, and Graf has played 40 NHL games, 33 in 24-25.

The Sharks are now in the build phase of their rebuild. Development of the vaunted pool of top young talent will change the course of the franchise’s trajectory.
