The St. Louis Blues didn’t trade up or down and stayed at 19th overall drafting right-winger Justin Carbonneau. While the Blues need help defensively, you can’t count out a player who has nearly a 100% shooting percentage 5 v. 5. Carbonneau put up 89 points with the with the Blainville‑Boisbriand Armada last season. The winger after 62 games produced 46 goals and 43 assists. Carbonneau stands at 6’1 and weighs 192 pounds. Carbonneau is known as a power forward, which would help the Blues’ top six when he is ready to take on the NHL.
After the draft Carbonneau spoke about his experience being drafted and mentioned that there were a few tears. An emotional Carbonneau was excited to represent the Blue Note’s new sweater as he was the second Blue to wear the new sweater besides Colton Parayko. When asked about who in the NHL he models his game after he stated Travis Konecny from the Philadelphia Flyers. He also stated that he also liked Jordan Kyrou, since they’re similar in size and skills that they’re able to produce.
Carbonneau stated that he was really excited with the Blues’ fight to get to the playoffs and their run this past season. He doesn’t know his plans for next season, and said that he will have a better answer in a few days after meeting with the Blues in person.
