Wild Linked To Vincent Trocheck

The Minnesota Wild are certainly a team to watch with the 2026 NHL trade deadline getting closer. They already brought in superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes from the Vancouver Canucks last month, but they should not be done yet.

The Wild are in a Central Division that has both the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars. With this, the Wild should be looking to continue to add more talent, as Colorado and Dallas are two big-time contenders.

One big need that the Wild have is a top-six center, and they have now been linked to one of the NHL’s biggest trade candidates because of it.

During a recent appearance on Daily Faceoff’s The Sheet With Jeff Marek, NHL insider David Pagnotta reported that the Wild have expressed interest in New York Rangers center Vincent Trocheck.

“I mentioned Trocheck, one team that has been circling around on him: the Minnesota Wild,” Pagnotta said. “We know that Minny is not afraid to continue to make moves, and Billy Guerin has been very active. Before the Hughes trade, he was looking for a second-line type of player, a top-six type of guy, and that hasn’t really stopped… It certainly sounds like, at the very least, Minnesota has poked around on Vinny Trocheck’s availability.”

Trocheck Would Be A Big Addition For The Wild

Hearing that the Wild are interested in Trocheck is entirely understandable. It is clear that they could use another top-six center, and Trocheck would provide them with just that if acquired. When looking at Minnesota’s roster, Trocheck would fit in nicely on their second line and power play if successfully brought in.

Trocheck has a $5.625 million cap hit until the end of the 2028-29 season. With this, he would help the Wild beyond this season if they successfully acquired him from the Rangers. This would be very good for a Wild club that is currently in its win-now window.

Trocheck has recorded 11 goals and 27 points in 34 games so far this season with the Rangers. This is after he had 26 goals and 59 points in 82 games for the Rangers in 2024-25 and a career-high 77 points in 82 games for the Blueshirts in 2023-24. With numbers like these, he would have the potential to major pickup for Minnesota if they landed him. Let’s see if they can do just that from here.
