The NHL released each team’s full schedule Thursday, a day after the home openers were revealed. The New York Rangers have one of their 11 back-to-backs for the season in the opening week, playing three times in the first four days of the 2026-27 campaign. The league increased the schedule from 82 to 84 contests, which is a main reason for the late September start.

Longest Homestand and Road Trip:
The Rangers are home for five straight games, November 28 through December 7, facing the Flames, ‘Canes, Sharks, Avalanche and Devils. As Colin Stephenson of Newsday noted, the home stand is bookended by road games creating back-to-back contests – November 27 in Chicago (Black Friday – Connor Bedard) and December 8 in Carolina.
New York’s annual California trip is January 9-12, kicking off in San Jose. Back-to-back contests on January 11 (LA) and 12 (Anaheim) wrap up the three-game trip. The game versus the Kings is the first time the Blueshirts will face Artemi Panarin in his new home arena.
The Blueshirts have a pair of four-game road trips. First is the annual Western Canada road trip, which is led by a stop in the Pacific Northwest. That transpires early this season: November 7-13 (Seattle, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver). Closer to home is a Metro Division tour from February 18-23 (Islanders, Philly, Carolina and Washington). The contests against the Flyers and Canes take place on back-to-back afternoons, Feb. 20 and 21).

As noted above, the Rangers have 11 back-to-backs on the docket. That figure sits somewhere towards the middle of the pack in the league. Three of those contests occur in January, part of the team’s heaviest month: 15 games in 31 days. In addition, as Jason Gregor tweeted, New York faces an opponent 14 times in the second half of a back-to-back.
Three of New York’s back-to-backs are on the road, including the pair in California. The Rangers play two of their back-to-backs at home while the remaining six are a combination of home and road contests.

– The XMas break is from December 23 to December 26 while the All-Star break is February 4-11. The Rangers are off November 17-21.
