The Flyers blog on Hockey Hot Stove is presented by Cover All Exteriors, LLC. Come see what the No. 1 roofing and siding contractor in Philadelphia can do for the exterior of your home.
Around this time every summer, I like to shake up the monotony with an occasional article series called “Flyers Pilgrimage.” These are places both near and far that offer something of interest to fans of the Philadelphia Flyers. I’ve toyed with the idea of collecting all of the entries into a single article. Someday, I might. Past subjects have included Rexy’s and Kaminski’s in South Jersey, the the Rosemont – La Petite-Patrie borough in Montreal, Northern Star Cafe in Smithers, British Columbia, the since-demolished site of the old Niagara Falls Memorial Arena (Niagara Falls, Ontario), the Whitney Forum in Flin Flon, Manitoba, and Pelle Lindbergh’s resting place at Skogskyrkogården (Woodland’s Cemetery) in Stockholm.
Home of the Zepper (and other Flyers inspired choices)
Earlier this week, my Hockey Hot Stove colleague, Mike Augello, was in the Toronto suburb of Aurura, Ontario. He went to meet up for lunch with Andy Frost. Andy, of course, was a legendary classic rock DJ and the Toronto Maple Leafs longtime public address announcer. Mike (“Mike in Buffalo”) was a regular caller on Frost’s radio show. The two grew to become friends over the years. Andy is the father of Calgary Flames and former Flyers center Morgan Frost.
Andy suggested he meet up with Mike at Tina’s Grill in Aurora. They went for the food, particularly the wings. Buffalo native Augello is something of a connoisseur of good Buffalo wings (“wings snob” in his words). After Mike got back home, I spoke to him on the phone. He told me I’d like Tina’s both for the food and the fact that it’s a haven for Flyers fans in Maple Leafs country. Patrons can watch all 82 Flyers games during hockey season. The walls are decorated with Flyers-related item, both recent and from Broad Street Bullies vintage.
Meanwhile, a host of menu items are named after Flyers players: Eric Lindros (Eric Linsauce wings), the Legion of Doom (mango habanero wings), Wayne Simmonds (the Wayne Train Burger and the Wayne Simmonds tequila, Chile and lime wings), current prospect Denver Barkey (the Barkey Burger), Morgan Frost (local beer and mild BBQ wings), Owen Tippett (the Tipper), Jakub Voracek (the Voracek), Travis Konecny (the TK All-Star hickory smoked and jerk sauce wings), Sam Morin (“the Big Sam”), Bobby Clarke, Dave Schultz (the “Hammer Time” wings), Sean Couturier (the Coots), Samuel Ersson, and even Rob Zepp (the Zepper).
I can’t make it up there this year, but I hope to visit Tina’s next summer with my wife and kids. Side Note: the gentleman in the orange toque in the photo from restaurant is none other than Andy Frost.

Tina’s Grill in Aurora Ontario is more Flyers centric than any bar I can find in Philadelphia. I travel down to Philly from Ontario and always look for Flyers bars but as yet, I still can’t find one.
