The first calendar month of the 2025-’26 season is done. Montreal Canadiens fans are riding high. Their team is near the top of the NHL standings while playing an exciting brand of hockey. On Saturday night, the Canadiens won a thriller over the Ottawa Senators, their fifth overtime win in just 12 games played.
With a 9-3-0 record, Montreal has heeded the call of their head coach. From the beginning of this year’s training camp, Marty St. Louis challenged his squad to play with a sense urgency to avoid the slow start that they experienced one year before.
In addition to a solid start for the team, individual Habs players are ranked near the top of the forwards, defense, rookies and goaltending categories. Expectations were high coming into the season but it can be safely said that the Canadiens are exceeding those expectations as October came to a close.
