The Montreal Canadiens were hit with a double dose of adversity on Friday when the Club announced that forward Alex Newhook and defenseman Kaiden Guhle would be out of the lineup for an extended period of time.
Guhle had surgery to repair a partially torn adductor muscle on Thursday and Newhook went under the knife on Friday to repair his fractured ankle. Newhook is expected to be out of the Habs lineup for four months while Guhle will miss another eight to ten weeks.
Newhook was having a strong start to the season with 12 points in 17 games playing with Oliver Kapanen and Ivan Demidov. Guhle is a pillar on the Canadiens defense. In addition to the injury absences, the Canadiens have lost five of their last six contests. We forecast the storm clouds in last week’s show.
