New Canadiens Connection: Steady the Ship

The Montreal Canadiens put an end to their five-game losing streak on Saturday night with a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both teams entered the contest with identical 1-4-2 records in their previous seven games. Against the Leafs, the Canadiens were physical, received solid goaltending from Jakub Dobes and had two goals each from Noah Dobson and Josh Anderson.

The win was a small but important step for a team that had been reeling for the month of November. Desperate fans and media had been screaming for management to bring in reinforcements from Laval or from outside the organization. This was in stark contrast to how the month began.

As the Montreal Canadiens entered the month of November, they were sitting atop the Atlantic Division sporting a record of 8-3-0 after 11 games. Cole Caufield was tied for the league lead in goals; Nick Suzuki was atop the leaders in assists; and Jakub Dobes had a perfect 6-0-0 record with a 1.97 goals against average and a .930 save percentage.
