This week, the Montreal Canadiens won the first two legs of a three-game road trip before being crushed in Colorado. The Saturday afternoon match, billed as the ‘Battle of Quebec,’ with the Avalanche sporting Nordiques jerseys, brought the Canadiens back down to earth after wins against Utah and Vegas. Montreal headed home after picking up four of a possible six points.
The result against the league’s top team can be seen as a measuring stick for the Canadiens. Clearly there is more work to do for Jeff Gorton, Kent Hughes and the Habs coaching staff. Making upgrades to the roster is just one of the items on the minds of Habs fans.
