Interesting timing on the Lappy dismissal. I wonder what changed considering for so long the narrative was he was doing an effective job even though the results in the AHL were less then stellar. I wonder if there was a concern could ha really develop prospects to another level. In theory, next season the Phantoms could be an extremely young roster with prospects such as Bonk, Barkey, Bjarnason, Ciernik, Knuble, and Kaplan and Bump who will need significant ice time to develop added to a bunch of already young prospects on the roster. I wonder if McKee is the front runner for the jbb.

I hope the reason for Lappy leaving as coach isnt related to a health issue.

I have heard him say in recent interviews that he wants to be coaching in the NHL. In retrospect it seems an odd move to go from assistant coach in the NHL, for all those years, to coaching in the AHL. Do a lot of coaches take that route?

Is Patrick Thoreson coaching anywhere? He took one in the nuts for the team so that’s gotta be worth something

Canada loses to Denmark 2-1. Out in the quarters. Sanheim scored the lone Canada goal.

      Nothing health-related with Lappy.

He had no HC experience before taking the Phantoms job.

Bill, do you think the Flyers are going to be looking at a more integrated environment where both the Phantoms and Flyers play basically the same systems. So call ups can fit as seamlessly as possible in to the lineup when the time comes. Or does that even matter?

They did the aligned systems previously. Tortorella was against it, believing a coach should have totally freedom to implement his own systems. It doesn’t really seem to make a big difference, one way or the other. Most players adapt.

I think it does make a difference. Makes the process easier and simplified.

Bill any rumors on who they are looking at for the LHV coaching job? Does Jason Smith have a shot? Will they keep him?

Yes, Gator has a shot. I wouldn’t be shocked if Jay McKee is offered that job (assuming Luke Richardson, as much rumored, gets the Flyers AC job).

Would have no issue with McKee. In fact that is how I would lean, if not him get a fresh voice in the orginization. Maybe, God forbid, you groom said person to be the next head coach of the flyers. This is spot where they have the ability to pay an AHL coach well to get his services. He has had some success at the junior level.

What’s the deal with Smith. Seems to have done a good job with the defense at the AHL level. Honestly don’t know much about his coaching style or what he is about.

Forgot to mention Snowden. He has a legit shot to be the next Phantoms HC.

      It won’t be Sam Morin.
