It is well-known that the Vancouver Canucks are one of the NHL’s biggest sellers as we continue to inch closer to the 2026 NHL trade deadline. They already traded Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild and Kiefer Sherwood to the San Jose Sharks, but more moves are expected to be on the way.
Evander Kane is one of the Canucks’ most notable trade candidates. This is because he is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA), and he should generate interest from contenders who are looking for forward help.
Now, it appears that a Kane trade could be getting closer.
According to CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal, the Canucks have given Kane’s agent, Dan Milstein, permission to seek a trade for the veteran winger.
Canucks’ Kane Is Now Big Trade Candidate To Watch
With Kane’s agent given permission to seek a trade for the 34-year-old forward, there is no question that he needs to be watched even more closely as a trade candidate.
Kane would have the potential to be a nice pickup for a playoff club that is looking for more secondary offensive production and grit in their top nine. His playoff experience also adds to his appeal, as he has played in 97 career postseason games. This includes 41 of them coming over the two previous seasons when he was a member of the Edmonton Oilers.
ESPN’s Kevin Weekes recently reported that the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars are two clubs in the mix for Kane. However, it would not be surprising if more teams expressed interest in the Canucks winger, as his hard-nosed style of play makes him a solid player to have around for the playoffs.
In 41 games this season with the Canucks, Kane has recorded nine goals, 15 assists, 24 points, 57 penalty minutes, and 85 hits.
