ParticipantKnuble was a pick I didnt like at the time. Been watching him for 10 years and just didn’t think it was a good pick. My opinion has changed. He could end up being a solid bottom 6 player. He is one I will track going forward.

ParticipantSpencer Gill is a prospect who I think will get a shot in the NHL, probably 3 years down the road. RHD with size and the ability to skate will be held in high regard for awhile. Ashame he got injured at the end of the season and could not play in the playoffs. I guess he is still injured and will not play in the Memorial Cup for Rimouski.

ParticipantGuys from the Q no sold on recently. That league as taken a slide downward. We shall see. Can the flyers develop him is the big question.

ParticipantLike to see how each of the following fare next year: Barkley, Bonk, Bump, Grebyonkin, Gill and Z (goalie in Russia). There are also a couple over in Europe playing, and not sure whether they will come to LHV next year.

I think Barkey and Bonk will do well enough in LHV to get a few games with the Flyers. Maybe more depending on injuries. Bump and Grebyonkin might too, depending on need and how well they do. I think Bonk can be a top 4 Dman here in due time.

ParticipantIn a lost season, I thought Grans deserved more games in the NHL to see if he is a viable 3rd pair Dman. Hence, the Risto issue remaining on the roster. On a contender, he is a 3rd pair Dman who is over 30 and will be a UFA in 2 yrs. He definitely does not fit the timeline. So he reamins entrenched in the top 6 on a lousy team. If Briere can pull another Laughton trade for Risto, I will applaud him. Big difference this times is Laughton is not brittle.

ParticipantI believe Grans and Bonk could fight for a position next year for the Flyers, and I definitely would like to see Risto traded so one or both could more up. I am not sold on Andre being a fixture for the Flyers at D. Was reading an article where Risto could have been traded to Toronto, but Danny’s asking price was too high. Like Trox88 said, timeline for Risto is not there with the current plan. We’ll have to see how Risto looks in Nov/Dec before any trade could be made now.
Another stay home D is Genning (LHD). I thought he did an alright job, considering the player’s strength. Could be a big, nasty D for our future, and if not then trade him before he goes back to Europe.
Haven’t heard much on Berglund (C) or Ruohonen (C). I saw the Ruohonen was mentioned above, but what do others think of either of these two (e.g. a year or two away)?

ParticipantBarkey had himself a great Memorial Cup tournament, even with an injury. Be interesting to see how he does at the pro level in the AHL.

ParticipantI would wait on Jett. He may even come on strong early, but it’s best for him to simmer one more year for Guelph.
I’d be fine with Martone taking an another year to develop, too. He may be one of the most NHL ready prospects in the draft, but I’m not trying to win now. I’m hoping they flourish.
hoping they get Shabanov and look to trade for a center.
Funny enough, Anaheim still has a logjam down the middle, and Philly has wings with potential.
Cutter is going to be a wing. They presently have Strome, Carlsson, and MacTavish as centers. In two years, it’ll likely be Carlsson, McQueen, and MacTavish with Strome up in the air. Probably not resigned.
Having MacTavish as a 3rd center is a luxury. Perhaps they’d rather have a top 6 scoring wing and a prospect and/or pick?
Anaheim has cap room. Would you do TK for Mac and even it out with picks/prospects? We’d lose scoring, but I think it can be made up with a stronger spine. We’d also gain cap room to strike in a year.

ParticipantThis could be the top 9 for the ‘26 season if that trade occurred.
Zegras – MacTavish – Michkov
Tippett – Coots – Martone
Luchenko – Cates – FoersterBrink becomes expendable. This is also if we fail to get Shabanov. Shabanov could replace Jett and make the bottom 6 something like
Shabanov – Cates – Foerster
Hathaway – Luchenko – Brink.Eventually Coots falls down the depth chart and Cates/Luchenko move up.
Just spitballin’. I like TK, but I think this rounds out the scoring more and it could give us caps room to focus on defense.
Obviously there will be changes between now and then. Plus Barkey may be an NHLer by the that time.
