A Closer Look at the Oilers Schedule

The Edmonton Oilers‘ season will start at home on Tuesday, September 29th. Connor McDavid and company will begin with a home-and-home series against the Vancouver Canucks. It marks the earliest start to an Oilers season in franchise history.

This year marks the first since the 1993-94 season in which the NHL played 84 regular-season games. This means teams will play every division rival four times a season. The old schedule made it four games against some, three against others.

The Oilers will play their first six games of the season against Pacific Division teams. After the home-and-home with Vancouver, Edmonton will host the Seattle Kraken on October 3rd. The Oilers will then kick off a California road trip to visit the Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, and Los Angeles Kings between October 7th and 13th.

Oilers Longest Road Trips of 2026-27 Season

The Oilers will embark on three extended road trips of five games or more. Their first such road trip will be in mid-November. It will be their annual trip up and down the East Coast. First, Edmonton will visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on November 14th. Then, the Philadelphia Flyers on November 15th, the Florida Panthers on November 17th, the Tampa Bay Lightning on November 19th, the Carolina Hurricanes on November 21st, and the St. Louis Blues on November 22nd.

Edmonton will see two more lengthy trips in December. The first will be from December 6th to 14th. They will visit the Chicago Blackhawks, Minnesota Wild, Buffalo Sabres, Ottawa Senators, and Montreal Canadiens. The next trip will be right after Christmas, with a December 27th visit to the Columbus Blue Jackets, followed by visits to the Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Nashville Predators.

Edmonton’s Longest Homestands for the 2026-27 Season

The first of three lengthy homestands will be in late October. It will begin against the Minnesota Wild on October 20th, before the Hurricanes, Maple Leafs, and Red Wings come to town. It will end with a game against the Calgary Flames on October 28th.

Between January 7th and 17th, Edmonton will host its second lengthy homestand against the New York Islanders, Lightning, Sharks, Blue Jackets, and Winnipeg Jets.

The Oilers’ third and longest home stand of the season will feature eight games from January 28th to February 22nd. They will host the New Jersey Devils, Canadiens, Golden Knights, Blues, Penguins, Colorado Avalanche, Bruins, and the Senators.
