New Canadiens Connection: Critical Decisions

Over the past few weeks, we’ve talked quite a bit about the summer to-do list for the Montreal Canadiens. These are the high-priority items, critical decisions, identified by Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes, with some crossed off the list, and others that still need to be figured out before this team takes the ice for opening night. However, at this point in the offseason, it’s not just about identifying what still needs to happen. It’s about trying to figure out what actually WILL happen.

This week, we’re putting some percentages on those remaining storylines. We’ll examine each of the Canadiens’ remaining summer decisions one by one, make our best projections, and see just how much—or how little—we think is still going to change before the puck drops.

We’re not just looking at whether something happens, or doesn’t happen. In some cases, we’re going to get a little more specific. There are still plenty of variables in play, and none of us has a crystal ball. But based on what we know about the Canadiens, their roster, their salary-cap situation, and where things stand right now, we’re going to put our best number on the probability of each one being resolved before September 29th.
