I stopped fishing some of my favorite lakes because of this. Simon Lake use to be such a gem… now 45 min line ups to put a car topper in this little lake…. even longer to get out because the bite shuts off like a light switch and everyone wants to leave at the same time.

What bothers me more than anything else is they just roll in and have no clue about fishing etiquette. Most of them, not all, show little to no respect for the locals that have put in their time to gain their wisdom. Then wonder why they get the local treatment when they set up beside one. All because they’re using the internet as opposed to their brain for common sense. It also wrecked surfing down here.

Nice…are you just chucking it out there from around Tower Point? A couple of my buddies got into them yesterday too, they said it was a crazy day and sent photos too. I’m jealous.

No, just 15 minutes up the road from our place in Sooke. I won’t mention the spot. Shore fishing in certain spots is getting stupid since a few people started posting videos and crap online. Guy almost hit me with his cast yesterday. The sad part is until this year me and a couple locals fished this spot to ourselves for around 20 years. Then one idiot we fish with posted a couple videos…now it’s stupid with people. 20 guys on a Monday when it would normally be 3 or 4.

I talked to a buddy of mine who’s set up at the China Creek Campground on the Alberni Inlet, he said sockeye were good but the Springs have been slow thus far. Maybe he’s just not that good of a fisherman and can only tie one knot?

Over the last couple of weekends I’ve put 4 Springs and 5 hatchery Coho into the freezer. All from shore. Went out for an hour today before the Shamrocks game and bagged another Spring. My friends are loving me for all the fish I’m giving them.

Holy man the salmon are pumping down here this year. How has the fishing been for everyone else?
