Cooley Sets New Mammoth Record

Logan Cooley registered his first four-goal, five-point game. He becomes the first player in Utah Mammoth history to score four goals in a game. Dylan Guenther also picked up a goal and an assist as the Mammoth defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 5-1. The victory ended the Golden Knights’ 6-game point streak.

Cooley wasn’t the only Mammoth player having a good night on Monday. Goaltender Karel Vejmelka made 33 saves on 34 shots for his tenth win of the season. He is now 10-5-2 on the season with a 2.76 GAA and a .889 SV%. As the Mammoth fight to get into the top three of the Central Division, they need Vejmelka to be at his best.

Defenseman Nate Schmidt registered two assists on Monday to move himself up to ten points this season. He had 19 points in 80 games last season for the Florida Panthers. He’s well on his way to passing last season’s totals. Utah GM Bill Armstrong signed Schmidt as a free agent in the summer to add more depth to the Mammoth blueline. I think he’s fitting in perfectly.

Cooley Continues to Impress

With his four goals on Monday night, Logan Cooley now has 13 goals and 21 points in 23 games. He leads the Mammoth in goals now. After registering a career high of 25 goals last season, the 21-year-old is on pace for 46 goals this season. The young American is also trying to earn his spot on Team USA for the 2026 Winter Olympics in February.

The future is bright for Cooley, and a trip to the Olympics could be the trip of a lifetime for such a young player. Getting the opportunity to spend two weeks surrounded by all the other talented American players, especially the veteran players, could be so beneficial for Cooley. Also, we can’t forget how meaningful it will be for him to get a chance to represent his country.
