The Philadelphia Flyers crept into the Olympic break with a 25-20-11 record. In this week’s Mondays with Meltzer edition of Flyers Daily, Jason Myrtetus and I do a deep Inside the Numbers dive on Matvei Michkov’s second NHL season. We dig into a variety of numbers — not just counting stats, but shot locations, skating metric and more — to comparing last season to this season. The playoffs are a longshot due to the Flyers’ swoon after January 6. However, there are still things to play for and trends to watch. Michigan State took over the No. 1 spot in the collegiate hockey rankings this week after an impressive weekend back-to-back against Michigan.
