Flyers Daily: Barkey, Bump, Cates, Tippett
With less than one month to go until the start of Flyers Rookie Camp on September 11, 2026, Jason Myrtetus is clearing out his stockpile of summertime interviews with Flyers players. On today’s podcast, he speaks with rookies Denver Barkey and Alex Bump, third-line center Noah Cates and winger Owen TIppett . The latter, of course, is recovering from sports hernia surgery, but should be able to participate in the abbreviated training camp before the start of the 2026-27 regular season.
Jason also provides an update on his personal health situation.

The skinny: The Flyers have drafted defensemen in this mold in abundance the last few years: big frame, athletic build. Vlooswyck proved to be a solid trade deadline edition to Western Hockey League champion Everett after coming over from Red Deer. He’s the type of prospect that hockey organizations tend to be higher on on pundits. Primarily, this is because he plays a simple first-pass game with the puck (meaning, he will never put up attention-grabbing offensive stats). He focuses on his off-puck play.
However, Vlooswyck made solid progress last year in his Draft-plus one season after an uneven showing in the Rookie Series against the New York Rangers. He’s temporarily ranked one spot above Everett teammate Brek Liske (2026 second-round pick), because his longer-term role is a little more clearly defined if he’s to make it as a pro. However, Liske’s ceiling is higher as an all-around blueliner.

Flyers Warriors Annual Raffle
Every year, the Flyers Warriors hold a late summer raffle to raise money for the program and its various activities. The Flyers organization itself always donates most of the prizes. Contact the Flyers Warriors or any of their members — everyone has raffle tickets available — to purchase. The official website is here.

Phans of Philly: Road Trip Planning
Last season, the Flyers went a perfect 6-0-0 in road trip games organized by Phans of Philly. Large contingents of Flyers faithful traveled together to see the team sweep its California trip. The Flyers also earned wins in New Jersey, Detroit and Pittsburgh (Game One of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal). This season, Phans of Philly planned two road trips involving flights and hotel stays. There will also be a couple bus trips in the works (TBA). The main attractions this season are:
In November, Phans of Philly will take a group of Flyers fans north of the border to see the team play the Ottawa Senators (Nov. 19) and Montreal Canadiens (November 21). This four-night trip is a Phans of Philly exclusive.
Come March, Phans has a five-night trip to see the Flyers play the defending Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights (March 11) and the Utah Mammoth (March 13). Fans will also have the option to add the March 9 game in Denver against the Avalanche ahead of the Vegas and Utah games.
O&B Puckcast: Flyers and their trade capital
On a recent edition of the O&B Puckcast, guest Anthony DiMarco touched upon a subject I plan to cover in depth next week. The Flyers have put themselves in pretty good position to make trades over the next year. These would not be deals to acquire assets. Rather, it would be for NHL roster additions.
Clarke turns 77
Flyers franchise icon Bobby Clarke celebrated his 77th birthday on August 13. The three-time Hart Trophy winner remains the most decorated player in team history: most games play, most points, captain of two Stanley Cup teams, played in four Cup Final series, captained the team that defeated Red Army. Later, Carke was the the general manager of three Flyers teams that won the Wales Conference chamionship (1984-85, 1986-87, and 1996-97).
