The other thing to is when i look at all the other clubs in our division or conference how many teams got better?

This is why i truly believe analysts are not the sharpest tools in the shed. How can they possibly say SJ has a good off season? Nurse, Marchment and Trouba, the best thing that happened was they won the lotto to draft Stenberg, but then they traded Eklund away? Dumb move. So they have one less top 6 forward until Stenberg makes his debut and signed one mediocre top 4 dman, Trouba who’s a glacier and Marchment who’s got grit and not much else.

Ducks trade away a top 6 forward and a playmaking defender for what? I love that Verbeek played hardball with his center and Philly offered that contract. Just like Vancouver when they went to the playoffs, they are going to have trouble scoring that many goals again this season, will their defense improve probably not.

Not one team got stronger in our division or conference other than us and maybe the Preds but damn that team is old. Why because we have young talented inexperienced kids who are going to get better while most teams had to get rid of talent to stay under the cap.

Dallas looked woefully slow in the playoffs

    Kings are done,

Really curious to see if Celebrini can continue his ability to score and now they are minus another top 6 forward

It just goes on and on.

So many look at what have the Blackhawks done? They had 11 first round picks in 4 years and they improved their team with a young blossoming defenseman. Was there a better addition to a team in the western conference? I really don’t think so

Mr. Dots I think the difference in KD’s strategy versus say McCrimmon in Vegas or Zito in Florida is that Davidson is seeking long term viability as a Stanley Cup contender vs “we’ll contend now future be damned” approach. I think Davidson was around during the Hawks glory years and saw that the accumulation of talent from the draft catapulted the team towards those cups, only because of the bad timing of the stagnant cap was the Hawks undoing.

KD seems to be very patient and calculating and I’m willing to wait out the process. He seems to be seeking very high-end talent to pair with Bedard and won’t sway to take a lesser talented player, which is good. Don’t buy a high output Camaro when you are saving up for a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. Although I’ve had my ’69 Camaro for over 30 years and I couldn’t think of owning either of those cars. I couldn’t work on them and maintenance must be outrageous. 😉

Wiz, I think we’re used to the old Hockeybuzz format that the posts just get layered in a natural progression. Here I think you have to go back to page 1 each time to see your latest post.

I do agree Wiz we need to see it on the ice, at the NHL level.

Not saying you specifically, that’s why most can’t see an up and coming team. It has become harder for KD since all these teams can keep their FAs because of the salary cap exploding.

I to question the Byram move but at the same time it may be an overpayment but it’ll be nice to get a top 4dman who can QB the power play.

I think the veteran top 6 forward is out there but unfortunately the price isn’t right yet.

We’ll see what talent minus NHL game experience will get us this year, 10 or more starters this season will have less than 100 games experience.

All this enthuiasm for our Blackhawks is moral boosting.

Wouldn’t I pay for the chance to see a maturing Arty, Bid Red, Vlasic, and Kaiser & KK playing with a split-second more progress in their understanding and execution.

so aling with the defensemen playing in suited roles, i need to see the lineup upfront to all play at higher levels. As much as a loved spouting off the newcomwe rookies attributes, but we need to see a year with Ollie Moore whether he gets to play with winger Lardis when his production stalls with top six big boys.

I need Nazar to cement some role. Bedard will play around Frondell in spots while new hope raises that Kansterov is te fit with him, as Roman wants the puck in short possession, guiding the quickly puck to other linemate or back to Bedsy.

I really want Slaggert to be a factor too.

Just rember, fanboys, that Bo Bryram wasn’t even in the Hockey News top 100.

or that Alex Vlasic in his final year as a member of the USHL USANDt-U18, he was the #5 tasked at PK duty and playing against lesser competition.

I want them to suceed, and I need to see it from the existing competing cast at forward.

(And HOE COME I cannot come back and see my posts?

If my spidey senses are right, at one point it will come to a head and this team will be a monster to play against.

But then again if you have all these prospects and future draft picks you can create a bunch of layers to your hockey club, exactly like KD has done.

It’s funny how i continue to hear, you can’t build a team through the draft! from so many pundits.

It takes time but you sure as hell can. You’ve got to get your core in the draft.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again the way the draft and the defenseman were developing early only makes this rebuild stronger.

I guess the best way to derail a rebuild is to offer $18 million a year to an up and coming player and watch that salary cap get real tight real quick.

My thoughts regarding pursuing Pettersson was not as a back-up plan, but as a true top 6 talent player type that he wanted to go after. I just thought if KD did have Pettersson in mind with other high-end talents, and with Bedard’s missing the beginning of the season, perhaps that might be the kicker that makes KD pull the trigger. That’s of course like you said that KD sees that Pettersson’s worth trading for and is better than anything in the system and won’t block any of them. Davidson doesn’t seem to make half-assed panic moves, so if he is targeting something, I don’t see him making a fall-back plan as you said at this point.

I see no reason that Elias Pettersson would even be considered as a fall-back add, after Kyle was unable to use anyb of his 11 2027 draft picks or any of his 8 2028 slots incluidng EIGHT in the first two rounds.

Pettersson neither lead his team in goals nor assists last year.

I am going to bet that when he originally signed this deal, iot was after a Cap increase, similar to the post-Carlsson egg shell era we are currently in.

He is quick, high IQ smart offensively, but not worth the contract that eliminates top 6 opportunities for the kids of an the draft the entire team philosophy KD stands by with ownership.

And let’s see how the rest of the Player agents actually drive the UFA prices up. I had a friend say Bedard will get 8 mil. I laughed and said they will give him 8million and a partail stake in ownership to keep the Cap hit lower, and actually not limitingthe possible future aquisitions.

Here’s Kyle with EIGHT 1st & 2nd round picks, 19 draft picks in the next two years, and he WAS / IS big game hunting for a UFA addition.

He got the add of a ture carrier shooter and non-passive defender with just ONE pick, a rare tarde of a early pick.

I am sure he is still looking for a scorer who has faith in the move to the Blackhawks even willing to miss a Cup run along the way (or
    more).

He shook all the team trees and nothing fell out.

Especially NOW, where the buying market may never stabilize, I expect him to continue his patient stance, looking for a REAL add that helps long term. Will the Philly attack on the Ducks be a one and done?

It is almost horse/ cart situation. They need Kantservov, Lardis, Moore and even Boisvert to show more 60 minute dominance.

I am gonna guess that eventually they are going to move Frankie to a wing.

    Frondell will play anywhere.

They add a marquee forward when one is there for them, they planets, aligning.

And I miss Mr. Richocet and I think somehow we lost him 2 different fan sites back. Anyone got any way to contact him?
