ParticipantI think some team will grab Lakovic before the Avs pick comes up for Philly. If he’s there, it’s worth a shot. With all of those first and second pound picks (if they keep them), I would expect the Flyers to potentially take the first goalie (Ravensbergen) off the board as well.

ParticipantI think it is with the Avs or Oilers pick that the Flyers SHOULD take a home run swing on a high risk high reward player like Ryabkin. THoughts on whether he will be there Bill? And do you also think he may slip as low as the Flyers first 2nd round pick?
I hear about commitment and character issues but you can’t deny the skills. Maybe they take a shot and Michkov’s work ethic rubs off on him.

With carson and the russian you think they use one of the late first on that goalie? that would be a waste to me unless they grade the raven higher than those 2.
is kolosov headed back to europe?

ParticipantWith apologies to the late Mitch Hedberg: Goalie drafting is like a baked potato in a conventional oven. Draft one even if you don’t really want it right now. By time it’s ready, who knows?

ParticipantI have to leave shortly for Allentown. Won’t have time to do a Quick Hits blog until late tonight. I did write a Phantoms-related article earlier today for the Flyers’ official site.

No issue taking a goalie later. Do you really want to take one with the late 1st or early 2nd? Now if that is who they have as the BPA then so be it.
If the Oilers end up winning it or losing in the cup finals that trade last year will have backfired (same pick in a lesser draft). Never ever seen a trade in all of sports where you trade a current first for a future first and get nothing back.

Participantour late 1st round picks will probably determine who we get at 6th. If we can’t get a C at 6 then we have to take Cs in the late first and home one is a home run

ParticipantSeems the Brady Martin rush has died down, I am starting to see most mocks take Desnoyers to the Flyers. I think I will be ok with that even if Frondell is still on the board. If Hagens is still there I think he needs to be the pick. You need skill and talent and I think Hagens has it in spades.
My order of preference depending on who is there at 6.
Hagens
Desnoyers
Frondell
Martin

ParticipantWhat agency represents hagens….
if they draft a center with the 6th will they rush that player into the lineup for 25/26? Could potentially have that player plus the Jett with ex selke and Cates. Then again they may add a center via trade for free agency.
Can the Jett play in the ahl next season or still juniors or nhl only?
really want to see them make a play for mcqueen with the abundance of other assets they have at their disposal.

ParticipantI do think O’Brien is in play @ 6. Fits the profile of how the Flyers have been drafting. He is a younger prospect, which in theory there is more runway to grow. If he tests well at the combine, will not be surprised at all if he is the pick @ 6.

ParticipantWith Tocchet being named HC, I believe Frondell will be high up on their draft board. Desoyners and Martone probably will be higher then Hagens. If they want forwards who play more north/south, Hagens is probably the least likely to fit that mold.

Tocchet won’t be here in 3 years when those guys are ready to take off. his hire should have no bearing on who they take.

Well considering Tocchet got 5 years and 5 million/yr, I think it is fair to assume Tocchet will have his input heard on the prospect rankings by the Flyers. Briere will have final say on who gets drafted. Also, the Tocchet hire represents a style of play and profile of player the organization wants to acquire. Again, Tocchet will have influence indirectly on the direction of the organization.

Participantdoesnt matter how many years he got , look at the coaching lifespan. especially for the flyers. tocchet has no idea about these junior players and his opinion shouldn’t matter where it concerns the draft.
part of me is 100% happy they made this hire. can watch them spin their wheels for the next 5 years. at least the draft and free agency will be fun as they will do everything in their power to add players to win “now”. comcast loves wasting money on coaches with nothing to show for it.
