My thinking is that his development has been stunted due to the injuries. I just want to see him thrive, and I am not sure if putting him head-to-head against the McDavids and McKinnons of the West is the best way to make that happen. Also, as Trevor mentioned, there is not much of an opening for him. It seems more important to management to keep aging players like Backlund and Kadri around.
I just don’t want another Sam Bennett situation where the development is stifled because they did not make room for him in the top 6.
