As far as the issue of foot speed there isn’t a lot of it on Canucks aside from a couple of players. The good thing is you have two of the top brass that when they were drafted at 2 and 3 know all about foot speed and what it takes to adapt.
Cootes with the game winner tonight and 2 assists
I worry about his foot speed but he’s had a couple great games to start the season, which is nice to see!
Our Saturday roundup…
Rogowski with a pair of A’s, +3 and 7 of 9 on faceoffs. G’s win 5-1
Medvedev stops 36 of 39 in a 4-3 SO loss. Decent game for him.
Olsen gets his first point for BU with an assist in their 3-1 W vs Brown. Nothing for Caleb but he had a whopping 10 shots. I like to see that.
Good night for Cootes… 1g 2a 5sh in their 4-3 win.
Mueller keeps his goal a game pace going with 1g 1a in the same game. He now has 4g 1a in 4 games.
Bryzgolov was scoreless today… Bernat didnt play in Owen Sound’s game for some reason.
I’m only following the more interesting prospects. Feel free to add what I miss.
Abby game tonight. SO loss 4-3
1g Mueller for his 3rd in 3g.
1g Alriksson
2a Patterso
1a KudryavtsevPetes took a shit kicking vs Sudbury. 7-3
Novotny 2a. 9p in 6g. Remains hot.
Lansing has 1a for Quinnipiac today. 1g 2a in 3g. Nice start.
Another start for Medvedev. Loss in extra time. He’s now 1-1-1 with a 3.16 GAA and a 9.15 SV%
Rogowski, Cootes and Bryzgolov didnt get on the scoresheet today.
Malholtra/Olsen play tomorrow.
Was hoping Medvedev would build off that great performance in the last game after only letting 1 goal in but he got pulled today after 5 or something…
After 2 snoozer periods of no scoring, BU broke out in the 3rd vs Alaska. Caleb Malholtra gets his first college goal in the 4-0 win.
Cootes gets his first pro goal for Abby tonight vs Calgary.
Mueller gets his 2nd goal of the season in that game.
I respect your opinion and can see what concerns people have but I think Caleb will turn into a very decent NHL player. He is 18 still very young. I can see him playing just like his old man a 2/3 centre. Yes teams draft that type of player lower than 3 but IMO this draft was not that outstanding so I am okay with the pick. Strength on the back end and down the middle.
Quiet night for the prospects.
Novotny held off the scoresheet.
Rogowski 1a
Mueller 1g
Cootes held off the score sheet
Medvedev gets the W
Malholtra held off the scoresheet. 2 shots, 6/5 on the dot. 2 pm
Olsen held of the score sheet. 2 shots
Side note: Malholtra and Olsen’s fellow draftee and team mate Tynan Lawrence with the OT Winner and an apple. 6 shots… I’ve predicted he will have a big bounce back season. Good pick for St Louis.
Can’t lie, I’m a little concerned about the Malholtra pick. I think Canucks would have been better served pick one of those top ranked d-men. Time will tell.
