At the risk of facing the wrath of Mike, I don’t completely agree.
Toronto is a huge media market in Canada and the Canadian media seem to always find ways to talk about Toronto. As for Marner, we don’t know what he dealt with off the ice. How much was in his head, or his families heads, or was real. We do have his on ice performance.
His regular season numbers were always good. His post season numbers, not so much. However, the same can be said for Nylander and Matthews. I think the bone that is sticking in so many people’s craw is that Marner wouldn’t waive his no move. Funny, that is his right. When a team agrees to that, they are giving the player a great deal of power. If you give that power to a player you can’t blame them for not waiving it.
