Are they sure? Andrae will never be 6’2″ and 218lbs like Gilbert and Gilbert could be poached by other teams that covet him. just kidding on the covet part. That is apparently why he didn’t make the initial roster, not being a huge lumbering vet. What changed? He eat his wheaties? Reminds me of Torts doing the same thing at the beginning of last season after poop hit the fan. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Any word if Jett will will be watching the game from the press box? What about Bonk’s injury? What is it and has it escalated further or is he actually going to be on the ice soon?

At the end of September, Andrae was sent to the Phantoms after playing just two preseason games. At the time, Flyers management seemed underwhelmed with his early performance. With two smaller statured offensive defensemen in York and Jamie Drysdale, the team seemed reticent on having a third.

Following their opening two games (and really going back to the end of preseason), Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet hasn’t received consistent play from his depth defensemen. Egor Zamula struggled mightily in that time, Adam Ginning made the roster as a long shot, while Noah Juulsen has been relatively nondescript in his play.

Gilbert, who had been waived prior to the York injury announcement, was scratched in both regular season games.

Deja vu. In choices between size and skill, youth and vet they picked the team they wish they had instead of for the team they actually have. I get that they would rather Emil never play an NHL game for them ever again because he would never make the FLA panthers 6’+ blue line but neither would most of the Flyers defense for other reasons. When given a choice between making the best bad choice or the worst bad choice. They tend to make the worst.

Good to see that Jett is projected to play. As long as he’s up he might as well be playing.

I do think Tocchet’s honeymoon period isn’t going to be long, he needs a win or at least to show growth as a team. A long losing streak to start the season isn’t going to sit well with a team that is in the playoff mix.

Playing a big heavy panthers lineup seems to me they need the beef of abols and ND……

Be typical flyers to call up andrae then sit him. Flyers need to see what they have in him, unless they have already determined he isn’t an nhl player. Juulson stinks and zamula hasn’t improved. Read someehwere zamuls agent is whining about playing time. Any truth tp that Bill?

Insert Andra and keep ginning as well.

Its early though they need to realize this is not a playoff nor anywhere near a contending team.

his handling of MM will bear watching. for hinm to have less minutes than all the top 9 forwards is comical. needs to buy into “flyers” hockey.

a Nice nonbiased read. Falls on both parties. Flyers haven’t helped him improve. He also hasn’t taken that step. We all know the flyers defense development history so to me more on the organization. Also keep in mind he was a non-drafted player and maybe there just isn’t much there.

I expect him to be traded within the next 2 weeks. Flyers don’t like disgruntles players. Will hurt the “room” and “culture”.

no shock seeing zamula out after spouting off. would have preferred juulson sit.

coach feeling ok with no ND as thought he was “needed” against teams like the panthers.

Does Zamula’s agent watch hockey? Is he asking for top pair minutes? PP qb? He has a decent shot but his play has been awful.

Vladar again was very good tonight, pleasant surprise. Zamula won’t be back in the lineup for awhile. Team deserves credit for weathering the storm and get the win in regulation.

Flyers got a much needed 1st win last night. Coots and Sanheim’s minutes were down to more normal levels for the 1st time all season. Glad to see Andrae get almost 11 minutes.

Last year’s home opener had Coots playing 4th line wing with no explanation. I can’t imagine anyone is happier that Torts is gone than Couterier.

Couturier makes it clear on an early difference between Tocchet and Tortorella

Still can’t believe Torts was the face of the franchise for 3 years.

The first period saw a marked difference in pace from the Flyers first game in Sunrise. Using a quick and disruptive forecheck, they built an early 6-3 shot advantage in the opening nine minutes of play.

Is it any coincidence that the 1st game they went with their big less skilled veterans lineup to a younger younger more skilled lineup last night on both offense and defense with players playing more balanced minutes?

The Flyers are going to be at a disadvantage on the ice most games this season. The Flyers need to stop trying to play the lineup they wish they had and play the best possible lineup for the team they actually have.

these are they games they need to win when facing a team backup goalie and minus their star players.

florida looked like they had no interest in playing last night.

rookie russian looks solid. would loo into finding a way to get him more minutes.

dvorak playing 1st line minutes again is comical.

the jett once again without a shot on goal. he needs touches and lots of ice time/minutes. this will not happen at the nhl level this season.

tocchet does nothing for me a as a coach.

Flyers had two of their top 4 D out Thursday and last night too. FLA has 3 great lines when fully healthy. Thursday and last night, they had 2 great lines. FLA looked especially uninterested in the third. Hahahaha!

Grebenkin will get more minutes as the season goes on. Who do you think moves up when the Flyers get an inevitable forward injury? Dvorak is a solid 2 way player, wins faceoffs and the Flyers played with the lead most of the night. Why wouldn’t you use a player like that in such a situation?

So they split with the two time Cup champs in a home and home and steal a point on the road from the other conference finalist and you’re still whining about Jett and don’t like Tocchet as a coach. That’s rich.

Why should they acquire anybody any time soon? They’ve absorbed having two of their top 4 Dmen out. They’re cycling guys in, out and around on the blueline and seeing what they can do. Ginning, Juulsen, Andrae and Zamula are a combined +1 after three games vs. good teams. As a comparison, Minnesota’s Top 4 are a combined -13 after three games. We get to see them Saturday. That should be interesting.

why would I care what Minnesota’s top 4 are doing? how is that relevant to the flyers?

For the second time, just for you, the Flyers are playing Minnesota Saturday. I’m not surprised you think how an opponent this coming weekend is playing isn’t relevant.

      Irrelevant to the flyers.

I get it your trying to talk about buium without talking about him. My bad.

By your logic you wouldn’t trade any of those flyer players you mentioned for any of minnys top 4.

dont think the coach knows what to do with MM, and zegras to an extent. How long can they continue to play Sanheim the minutes he is playing? Same with Seeler as he will be greatly exposed at some point.

will they give andrae a real look or will Juulson stay in the lineup when york returns.

Hahaha! I have been keeping an eye on MIN because of Buium but the whole team is a catastrophe defensively. They do have a great power play and Buium is part of that. They have 8 PP goals in 3 games. That’s dangerous. They gave up 7 to CLB. They had a 3 goal lead on LA in the 3rd and blew that, although they did win in OT. They can’t play in their own end. They look like they’re going to be one of the worst defensive teams in the league unless they turn things around.
