ParticipantWhew, that top 6 would have a hard time consistently winning with top 10 goaltending. Briere better be gearing up to make trades to improve this roster, waiting till the summer when there will be scraps left in free agency will not get it done. At least, I expect the team to score more goals, but somehow the ability to prevent goals has gotten significantly worse from last season, which I thought would be very difficult to achieve.

There’s ugly, then there’s this.
Ginning top 4. Seeler top pair. Dvorak top line. Already yo-yo’ing the jett around having him on the wing (assuming that’s what they do) . A shitty vet blocking the young Russian. What a roster they constructed. Go flyers.
What line gives you a better chance to win:
Russian- the jett – GH
Or
ND – Abols – GH

ParticipantND is not an asset on the ice.
Simmonds was a fine and consistent player with 6 20+ goal seasons. Simon was good for a while but became an absolute league-wide safety hazard over time and things ended tragically for him. Neither are really good comps. A fairer comp: Gadjovich who Florida somehow found a lineup spot for in every conference finals and Cup finals game last year.

Participantexactly, thanks for proving my point.
So you’re OK with a designated fighter if they can score 18 goals? Good to know.
There’s a difference between hockey players who can fight vs goons on skates. Loved Wayne Simmonds in his heyday. Chris Simon was great in his role with the caps. There are players who are assets on a normal shift where there isn’t a fight and there are those that are not.

yes its me 2050ParticipantI think you mentioned earlier in the offseason that your only concern is the current year? If that’s the case, why do you care and keep talking about cup contention? The Flyers sure as hell aren’t winning it this year and you don’t care about what’s on the horizon.
Will the Flyers be better than Chicago this year? Probably. If that’s all you care about then you win.Cup contention is a marathon, not a sprint.
My only concern? I don’t remember that. I do want to see good, competitive hockey THIS year. How is that a bad thing? The biggest threat to that this year is injuries bunching up at a specific position. Depth is not a strength. There’s already cause for concern there with 2 of their top 4 Dmen down.
You want an ND “type” in the lineup fine. Get one who can play, contribute, and not hurt your team. Not a total stiff who offers nothing.
I said they will be contenders before the flyers. get back to me when I am proven wrong.
How many are out there? Olivier has made himself into a good player. Xhekaj is an adequate 3rd pair Dman. In the year 2057, pigs will fly. Get back to me when I’m proven wrong.
exactly, thanks for proving my point.

yes its me 2050ParticipantND is not role player. Her is a fucking stiff. Has no business on a nhl roster. Why you can’t accept that and try to rationalize why he does is baffling.
Did I say or indicate the hawks were near playoff or cup contention. I did not.
No, the flyers are not willing to take their lumps. Flyer’s failure is not by design but by incompetence.
No, it doesn’t matter. Explain to me how it does going forward?
Hahaha! Yeah, OK. ND is a role player, a designated fighter. Some teams still carry them. FLA dresses theirs pretty well every night plus a lot of other chippy players.
You indicated you think CHI is closer to cup contention than the Flyers. Why? Bedard? Frondell will be a good player for them eventually. The rest looks bad. Way worse than the Flyers.
Carolina proved to be a bad matchup last year. Flyers need to end that Saturday.

last year’s results against any team are meaningless going forward.
