One thing that could throw people waiting to log in and looking for hockey hot stove in their ‘In Box’ was that password retrieval was sent via ‘Word Press’, which ended up in my junk folder. Hope that helps

I had thought I pre-registered using my MBFlyerfan username, but it said my password was wrong. When I try to get it reset it says it sends an email but I don’t get one. But I do get an email for this username to this email, and when I try to use this email linked to MBFlyerfan it says the email already exists. I have no idea what email I used or if maybe someone is screwing with me and stole my username. Is there any way to find out what email is linked to MBFlyerfan?

Yes. Users will be able to add an avatar, etc. Right now, making sure basic functionality is in order and trying to spread the word that we are here and want to start building a community.

Hi Bill, just a follow up on the post that didn’t show up in the “1st Overall Choice” thread we discussed. I tried a few different things. Refreshed the web page ~20 minutes later, opened a new Hockey Hot Stove tab and checked the forums, logged out and back in, etc. I had also saved a copy of the text of the post just in case (sometimes you can teach an old dog new tricks! LOL!). So, I copied and pasted it into the 1st overall choice thread and submitted the post that way 9i was logged in). A pop-up gave me the message along the lines of “duplicate detected…”. Maybe just a hiccup, but wanted you to be aware that the post went into the ether somewhere.

I finally got the email to my private email. I can login, but if I go to Bill’s column, it tells me to login to reply. Then I click login, re login, and it takes me back to the main page. I click on Flyers, and Bill’s column, and I am logged out again.

It took me a week or 2 to finally get signed up. I had to request a password reset because the original registration email never came.

Turns out I wasn’t able to use my MBFlyerfan username because someone stole it from me and registered first, even using the same avatar I used at HB. Can something be done about this Bill? They are responding to posts using it.

Mick, I will look into it today.
There are various tweaks we still need on the forums. Now that basic functionality is there, we need to sharpen it.
Another one is responding to individual posts.
I intend to moderate loosely but there are 3 non-negotiables: no personal attacks on fellow posters or bloggers, no politics, no NSFW stuff.
Other than that, most things are fair game.

No issue with Ferschweiler as he is not a retread. Take that all day compared to the other options. Though his stint as an NHL assistant is nothing to write home about. He is 55 and never got a chance before so makes you wonder why. Since he has NHL experience, I wonder how much say they would allow him to have
Do you know of any other teams interested in Ferschweiler
Would that be more of a Jones hire than a Briere hire?

While Ferschweiler is a “Jonesy guy”, he won’t be hired if Danny objects. One thing you can say about Briere — whether you otherwise like the job he’s doing or not — is that he isn’t territorial in that way. If he likes the candidate, he’ll hire him whether it was his own idea or the POHO’s idea initially.

What happens if Jones wants him and Briere wants another guy. That is a possibility on several candidates as not always going to see eye to eye which isn’t a bad thing.
Who do they then defer to? If anyone of course.
2 last questions:
1. Is there any time frame they have to name a coach? Are they waiting for any assistants who are still coaching do you now of?
2. Issacc Howard. I am sure Flyers would have interest. Would Howard. To walk away from arguably the best run organization in hockey seems rather odd to me on the surface.

^ everyone said Torts runs the show and Briere is a puppet. Torts was Jonesy’s guy. Briere fired Torts. Seems pretty clear who is in charge. So the first thing you said makes no sense at all.
1. my guess is they’ll do one year of Shaw or Lappy, run the rest back and tank for McKenna, kick tires on Cooper in 26 and if he goes to Utah like some are saying than maybe they go with Ferschweiler then. He’s got a good thing going at WMU so he may be in no rush.
I just wish they’d go after Shaun Clouston.2. maybe.

Briere had no intention of firing Torts. He said so himself. The also had a meeting of the “minds” for several days before Briere was given the ok to move on form Torts. Torts got himself fired. If you can’t see that then oh well.
There is zero chance they try to tank. They haven’t done that yet and they will not start now. they are looking to add players to “compete”. If they fail it will not be design.
