Zegras is 100% going to be a center. The flip to wing last year was because ANA was so lacking in scoring Cronin felt the need to get his 6 best offensive forwards onto two lines. They still weren’t very productive. Frank Vatrano is an admirable player, but he’s not a Top 6 winger. He gets you 3rd line winger numbers in Top 6 minutes. Zegras does create a lot of offense down near the goal line. We’ll see how that fits with Tocchet’s Box + 1. He won’t be the first forward back a lot of the time. Giving him some Hecht/Leino/Kurri-esque 2-way support from the wing isn’t a bad idea but, word is, Zegras isn’t a slacker on defense either. He’s their best option for scoring center. He’s not flipping to wing.
Nice to see some positives on Dorwart. Things are tightening up up front though for slots.
