Participantyou have no idea what someone’s limitations are or anything about them, you are just making shit up with a quick 2 min “research” project you did. Someone working in the NHL for 15 years might add some other skills to his resume
We had the Hockey man President for 10 years with Dubas. It doesnt mean shitI know your limitations are that you’re retarded and can’t comprehend the simple fact that most of the guys who run successful teams have vast hockey knowledge and experience.
Yes, they did and while Shanahan failed to win the Cup, he did guide this franchise back to respectability and 9 straight years of playoff hockey (failure). That doesn’t prove that they need poker players to run a hockey team though. It just means they need better hockey people to add with the statistical geeks to make a stronger team of executives.
As I said previously, Mehti might be a genius with stats but his experience is limited to numbers. They need a hockey mind above him and they’d probably need a contract guy beside him. Not sure he’s good with contracts either.

ParticipantDo some research dumbass.
He is a data scientist, professional poker player and options trader. Hockey wasn’t his main focus in life. Never played hockey much less professional hockey. That’s a serious disadvantage if he has all the power to run a hockey team. This is like hiring another Dubas minus the part where at least Dubas was around hockey his whole life whereas this guy has played more poker than he played hockey.
This is exactly how the Leafs hire a guy who does everything by the numbers but has less of a clue about the culture and the game itself. That’s where you need a guy like Pronger or somebody else who at least played the game, who understands the locker room, who understands the game behind the numbers.
Mehti is great with numbers. But he wasn’t the hockey mind behind the Panthers. All that groundwork was laid years before his numbers got involved. If the Leafs hire him to run the entire team, you won’t get the best results without having a hockey mind above him. Just like how Moneyball was a great story but didn’t win a World Series.

ParticipantThe Leafs are in a great spot to tank out and get the fifth overall pick.
But, of course, Florida is going to tank better and bump us up to 6th. Florida and Boston simply own us, there is no fighting it.
Thank you sir. May I have another one please sir.

ParticipantHe might be a wonder with numbers but his eye for hockey is limited compared to what an NHL GM should have.
