    Adios chuck!

Chuck wound up in the hospital in Hawaii, I hope the hospital recovers.

Chuck Norris didn’t die, he just decided to try living underground.

If the team tanks now, they don’t have their 2028 pick as it will belong to Philly.
Best they go on that Glory Run and give Boston a pick in the teens.
If the Leafs owned their 1st over all picks, I’d be right with you on the tank so they can get some new blood on the team.
    Behr should be interesting.[/quote]

Thats fine, push the 1st rounders out and get a top 5 pick this year. The leafs desperately need some talented youth in the organization.
LEafs have a 1st next year and it would give them time to improve so neither boston or philly are getting a top 15 pick.

Unless the talk of trading knies and moving matthews to minny are true….although minnie doesnt have much that i would want that they would be willing to trade.
    Either way fire tre.

So it sounds like Matthews had knee surgery today.
    OUCH !!!!!!

MCL Grade 3 is almost always surgery if the player wants to recover to play pro sports again. It was expected. They probably just had to wait for the swelling to go down to do the surgery properly.

He’s actually really lucky it was just the MCL because the ACL recovery would have been much, much worse. PCL sucks too, McDavid torn his years ago and that one could have ended his career.

Hopefully, he’s allowed to take stem cells and peptides. That will significantly reduce his recovery time. Illegal in Canada, of course, so he’ll have to do that elsewhere.

    I agree with you.

The best case scenario is as follows:

Leafs go on a winning streak, shoot up the standings, Boston picks 12th-16th overall. Treliving is fired on the last day of the season.

Leafs hire Chris Pronger as GM and Ron Francis as the President of Hockey Ops. Pelley is told to stay the fuck away from the Leafs.

Leafs hire Mike Futa to run the Amateur Scouting Department. He did great work in LA, helped build winners, he’s local and looks like he’d take the job.

Leafs keep Berube as head coach. This prevents the hiring of DeBoer or Laviolette who could create a “wild card pretender” scenario for next season. Keeping Berube puts all the pressure on the players instead of giving them another excuse. They’ve had enough coaches fired already. Keep Berube until the core players are traded, then hire some rookie coach like Steve Sullivan to tank.

You make zero trades that cost draft picks or prospects. You only sign UFAs to short term deals that you can flip at the TDL. You trade Stolarz and run with Woll and Hildeby.

Run the 2026/2027 season out, Leafs won’t contend but won’t give up a top 10 pick to the Flyers either. Hopefully Matthews and Nylander put up some decent points to increase their value. You offload OEL, Tanev, McCabe; literally all depth players over 25 who gets you a draft pick. You make it clear as day to Matthews that his time is up in Toronto.

With 1 year left on Matthews’ deal, you trade him at the 2027 draft. After Matthews is gone to the highest bidder, Nylander would likely want out and so would Rielly, Tavares and everybody else. You acquire only 1st round picks, top prospects and roster players under 25. Should be able to accumulate 10-12 blue chips for all the assets. There’s also the possibility you could get a top 5 pick at the draft included in the package for Matthews or Nylander, depending on the situation.

Sign the worst goalie in the NHL available for tanking purposes.

Tank 2027/2028. Draft in the lottery. Tank 2028/2029. Draft in the lottery. Try to sign McDavid to the max contract if he’s available. Try to sign Rod Brind’Amour as head coach.

Contend in 2030 with a team loaded with new core players under 25, McDavid, Brind’Amour and cap space to plug the gaps.

I hope the Leafs don’t go on another Glory Run and kill an opportunity for a top 5 pick. You have to know that the Leafs will get down to 5th from the bottom and someone above them wins the draft lottery and pushes them to 6th. Boston gets to pick and they get a player that plays in their top 6 for 15 to 20 years. Sound familiar? They should just tie the can to Treliving and get their new Management team together and allows them to look at this piece of sh!t roster.

The time to plan a tank was 4 months ago. They can’t expect to tank with so few games left in the season with two healthy starting goalies. The Leafs getting a top 5 pick is a pipe dream at this point. They’re better off winning 10 games and just guaranteeing that Boston gets a bad pick.

Also, getting a top 5 pick this year won’t fix this team. In fact, it makes it easier for this idiot management group to “go for it” again next year built on false hope.

They need to wash this year and next year, trade Matthews at the 2027 draft, tank in 2028 and tank in 2029.

    Rebuild. Properly.

If the team tanks now, they don’t have their 2028 pick as it will belong to Philly.

Looking at the Leafs schedule, they’ve played more than every other team. Many of their remaining games are on the road against teams close to them, in the overall standings. Lose a few key games, and they’re there! I just don’t want a Glory Run when it means nothing. I see a lot of love for Maccelli. Where was his production when the team could have used it? It doesn’t mean much during garbage time. Hopefully, they don’t qualify him because he’s just a filler on the wing. I wouldn’t mind the Leafs resigning Laughton, at the end of the season. First, let LA make the playoffs and turn the third into to a second, then just wait for them to lose in round 1. No thanks to McMann. He’ll be the next David Clarkson for the team that signs him.

    You got this completely backwards.

Yes, Maccelli is small and he sucks but if he has value, why would you let him walk for nothing? That’s just stupid.

Speaking of stupid, signing Laughton is a waste of time. Unless you plan to trade him again at the TDL for another 2nd round pick.

I’m glad the Leafs got picks for McMann but they also let Hyman walk thinking he was going to be a big nothing and he ended up scoring 50. McMann doesn’t fix this team but if somebody signed him but he’s not necessarily going to be a garbage pylon like Clarkson was either. If McMann goes the “hometown” route, he could score a lot playing with McDavid and Drai.

I get what you are saying about Maccelli. Why let him go for nothing. There should be a team out there willing to part with a late pick for him. Like Vancouver.
