Except the part where I’m more accurate in those predictions than you and most others. Berube is an average coach who won one Cup with a team that had a stacked blueline. The Leafs don’t have anywhere near the types of players he had in St. Louis. They brought in a tough guy coach and still have 20 pansy players. Coaches don’t play the games. Even if he could, he was a goon himself, not like he knew how to win as a player either.
The “Oiler” strategy hasn’t won a Cup. Not even with McDavid.
These guys can’t be praised as beauties when often they’re the reason why the team is down by 3 with 6 shots after 30 minutes. They play like absolute dog shit for most of the game and that is just as bad as the good they do at the end of come back. When this team goes down 3-0 to Florida, they lose 6-1 when it matters. This is the same team with worse players and the results will be the same when it matters most.
All in all, terrible night, zero drive or passion, absolutely got their faces caved in for 40 minutes. But then a switch flipped, and now they know they can do that at any time. Come out with a better compete level from puck drop, and don’t put yourself in a 3-0 hole. Tomorrow night is a HUGE test.
