ParticipantThings started sideways for the Pittsburgh Penguins as they gave up a goal on the first shot of the game for the first time this year. It took time to get going.

ParticipantPenguins started sleepy but continued to improve throughout the game. Silovs was solid and made timely saves. Good game overall.

ParticipantI’m surprised by a few things. The Brazeau experiment is still going. I thought it would flop immediately and he would end up on the 4th line. After his hot start I figured by game 5 it would taper off. If anything Mantha is starting to roll a bit.
Kindel’s line has very impressive analytically and in actual gf vs ga they are doing alright. Not sure who is the Xfactor on that line but I would like to see mcgroats on the 3rd line LW once returned, after probably a stint in the A to get him up to game speed. Maybe McG – Kindel – A Hayes at some point.
I would love to see some success for Jarry. If we could snag a couple solid defensive D men to balance out the right side I’d say we’ve got a solid shot at the playoffs and possibly sqeaking out a round depending on the matchup, team health, etc

ParticipantZam Plante is having a real good year down in the ncaa. 2nd highest scoring line in the ncaa. No big name line mates either to carry them. Looking good for a 5th round pick. I was watching the Detroit game and they have a 20 year old rookie from the 7th round killing it. Of course he’s on the top line LW with Larkin and Raymond which helps. He was well over a ppg his last year in juniors so I’m curious as to why he was a 7th round pick. But good development and supporting cast could really make some of our picks playable. If we have good linemates though is a big factor haha

Yohe was on the radio earlier today saying the Pens are leaning towards keeping Brunicke and Kindel. I don’t know if it’s the right move long term, but you can’t say they haven’t earned it. I saw Horcoff is having a nice start at Michigan

Yeah idk. I’m sure the pros will do what’s best. Being drafted gives them a pro developmental team to work with them so the easier schedule can allow them to bulk up, work on a lot of things. But if they can play in the nhl then why go down. A year with Sid and letang showing them how to condition, train, intensity, practice, could be a hell of a lot better.
Horcoff got off to a blazing start but I think 4 of 5 goals, or possibly all 5, came against a terrible team they beat overall like 18-1 or something over 2 games. Been quiet ever since.

ParticipantI really hope both stick this year. Most times salary cap concerns dictate teens staying or going back to juniors. With the cap going up substantially and the big 3 plus most likely EK being gone soon, I don’t see us having any issues there. Both(especially Kindel) have looked damn good so far, and other than the 2nd Rags game, we’ve been playing decent hockey so I think they benefit a lot more from staying and learning from the old guys before they’re gone.

ParticipantMy Cup jokes aside it’s a shame we don’t have a deeper team cus this team feels like it’s kinda got it. I’d trade off a bunch of bottom six vets at the deadline and call up the kids and see what happens

ParticipantBeauty of a give and go by Kindel and Novak. I suppose he could stick around. Would love to see them upgrade from hallander to a legit scoring winger for kindel. Maybe next years 1st rounder?

ParticipantSick goal. Sounds like McG will be heading to WB when he’s healthy which makes sense. Hopefully they Have McG, Koiv and Kindel all getting full time roles at some point this season.

Man, when Jarry is on, he’s really fucking good but it is so hard to trust him over a full season, I am always wondering when he’s going to implode. It’s never a 1 game implode, it’s always a multigame slide.

ParticipantMy guess would be that McG starts in the A regardless just to get his legs I’ll see him. Especially that the team is doing well. Jarry did look good tonight. Nice highlite scorpion save. Maybe playing every other night with silovs will keep them both fresh and in competition with each other.
Ever notice than we had Dan bylsma as coach. Then Dan got fired and we hired the first Mike. But he was terrible so we hired another Mike. And now that Mike is fired and we are back to a Dan again.
